Line 6 Helix Stadium Pre-Launch Discussion

Forgot one, "who kept their pre-order?"
Ha, yeah, didn't really forget it. A fourth could be "Who still opted not to preorder?" I was just light-heartedly trying to see if the clip caused anyone to change their mind enough to take an action one way or the other.

This whole strat-neck-pickup-lets-play-like-Temu-SRV-demo's bore me to tears.

Have to say though, even allowing for all the Y/T stuff, its sounds and [seems] to respond to dynamics pretty much like "real".

I think the Agoura ride is going to be a very long and satisfying one :)

Now - lets play a game .... how long before this clip is posted on the Fractal Forum and the posts read along the lines of "my Axe Standard was nailing this years ago" ..... "typical junky L6 tones" ..... "totally plastic sounding" .... "terrible Top End" ... "dynamically flat" ... "no different to the current Helix' .... "not even 2D sounding" ..... "Cliffs going to eat Agoura for breakfast" .... "its clearly been post processed and it still sounds like a bad Boss tone" .... blah blah blah etc....

I'm guessing 1 week.

I was just watching the latest round of Stadium videos. Being able to search by the actual original gear name instead of the Line6 name will be a big help. One of the big annoyances of the QC has been having to pull up the NDSP website device list when I can't remember what a certain amp is called in the QC.

Whether that clip is a Sansamp through an IR, Helix, Fractal, or Agoura…it sounds better than my memory of the Helix Plexi. I’ll have to revisit it in Helix. It’s one of the models I never use. Can’t wait to get my hands on the new stuff.

Just thinking out loud, but I'd like to see Proxy run its own captures (or fork) of NAM that are tied to L6's ecosystem and take advtange of being able to control things a bit.

But it would also be great if they have a tool for converting or retraining NAM models into that format. IMO that would be the best way to support NAM models with some degree of consistency. The conversion tool could even handle calibration metadata and adjust models to work within Stadiums constraints. Some amount of (potential) accuracy trade off is worth it to be able to run models on the device itself.

I can easily see people complaining about that, and I think they would be right to do so.
Why's that? Some NAM models struggle to run well on the fastest and most powerful computers - would users expect these to run on HW?

Even as it stands HW implementations of NAM like Dimehead can't run hyper accuracy models (for example). There's always going to be a ceiling of what its possible to run. Quite often those last few % of accuracy simply don't matter to most users in most situations.

Fractal shut down the Stadium thread and said post somewhere else, so I’d say never. Stadium is a forbidden subject there now, even in The Lounge.

DOES IT HAVE A BRIGHT CAP?
Jokes aside, one thing I’ve not seen or heard mentioned yet in the product features is the ability to bypass those input bright caps on the Marshalls.

I realize that might sound absurd given the years long dust up trying to get the bright caps, but there are use cases. If I had the ability in a snapshot to have a cleanish Superlead with the bright cap on and then switch snapshots into the bright cap being bypassed and hitting the amp with a fuzz or drive that would honestly be a pretty big win and something I wish I could do on my actual Superlead.

But its my job man ;)
I don't know, man. Don't much care what they have to say about Stadium or Line6 in general. But of course they're going to justify the goodness of Fractal on their own forum. And why wouldn't they? It's really good. The ones that aren't going to bother with any other gear have their reasons. The rest of us can have our own fun.

All that aside, I get that Fractal wants the discussion on their own forum to be about their own products, but policing the Lounge too? That's maybe a bit too much. Makes even a Fractal fan like myself steer clear of that place.
