Kemper Profiler MK 2

I do wonder though if old profiles sound the same on OS 14. I had dialed in an AC30 patch for a U2 song in the band before the update and it sounded pretty good. After the update it seemed not that great, also effect levels seemed to have changed. But could also be that I had dialed the sound for so long that my hearing wasn't reliable anymore. Someone with two units and one updated, one not could A/B check.
That’s a good question. I have my toaster with OS13 lentils to a friend in Germany but planning to a/b when I’m back there in a few month.

Because from memory they sounded Mosdef less cocked wah pedal than they do right now.
But that might just be perception.

I’ll try some profiles of my amps later I should be able to tell off those.

Imagine if we're right about the MK2 ones in a year or two ;-)
That really would mean I care of other’s opinions. regarding something as inconsequential as gear.

Tell you what, when I had no interest in a Kemper for over a decade opinions mattered as little as when I got into.

Same with any gear. I used Fractal a lot for over a decade, and lived without using any for 5 years. Etc….

It’s just gear.

But if everyone thought like you, we wouldn't be on page 275 now... so there's always that..

That makes sense, of course.

But hey, this is a gear forum. We talk about our opinions, tastes, and whatnot. Of course, if I like and want a unit, I care little about anyone else´s opinion... but I read them, analyze them, and have fun in the way.

What else are We here for?

Point taken.

I uploaded three profiles of the Soldano Astro 20. I used a Two Notes Reload II as a load box and IR hosted in a VP4 in the Reload's loop. So the resonance controls don't come into play? WTF? I guess it means it's a Liquid DI but no resonance controls in play? I did select the Soldano 100 bright amp type...did that cause that?

I can't believe there are no good videos on how to do it.

Not sure if I'll leave them there because it didn't go well. Kept getting warnings it was too noisy or I was not able to profile because it would stay 'profiling' in an endless loop. Eventually I realized the level was so low the Player was waiting to sense its signal coming back, so I kept plugging/unplugging cables to find the magic level that allowed it to start without being too hot...

Anyway, If anyone has time try them out and let me know if I should trash them and try again and any insight into WTF I'm doing wrong is most welcome.
There has to be a way to compare amp to profile but I'll be damed if I found one that doesn't involve plugging unplugging the cables. Oh, the having to reboot Rig Manager a bunch of times to get it unfrozen at random stages of the process was much fun!

Upped one of my SLO 100 Crunch channel if anyone wants to try. It is intended for humbuckers, but you can turn the bright cap down for other pickups.

I added the liquid tone stack after saving. Only value set is the gain so extremes on the settings will be more than the amp would do.

I just got around to putting 14 beta on my old power rack . I don’t use it much but it’s a great jam and practice rig. First impression is it is an improvement but I like the original for the tones I want. It has less of the “ Kemper” generic sound and better dynamics. I always liked the feel anyway. I will check it out more over the next couple of weeks. Anything serious gets the X88ir/2/50/2 or VH4 anyway but it definitely has its uses. Can’t help thinking if you have a version 1 the 2 adds almost nothing over it. Maybe if it is your main rig and you need more fx but otherwise version 1 with 14 fw is basically the same.

Surely there others here that have an mk2? :)

I personally think the update is fantastic.
All queries about accuracy aside, and all criticisms of Kempers business practices aside, the workflow never gelled with me. Even after owning so many units, I never truly was fluent in using it, and the feature set is just too limited for me.
