Kemper Profiler MK 2

All queries about accuracy aside, and all criticisms of Kempers business practices aside, the workflow never gelled with me. Even after owning so many units, I never truly was fluent in using it, and the feature set is just too limited for me.
I had a long struggle when I first started using Kemper. So many controls that do not exist in the real world and it was so confusing. Pure Cabinet, High-Shift, Low-Shift, Tube Shape, Definition, etc. It took me a long time to try and keep all of them straight in my head when dialing in presets.

Kemper is super easy to use and you dont have to dialing a preset, just choose the profile you like and done, now with LP is super easy to tweak a profile

New 2.0 Video .... Peavey 6505 ... not my cup of tea but it seems to sound great through my Matrix / FRFR up loud - but I have zero idea what the real thing sounds like.

Plenty of guys around here that are into this / these style of Amps ... how's it sound ? ... thoughts ? ... great / good / bad / shit ?

As 6505 guy, I would like to try this profile, as it sounds pretty good on my state of the art iPhone speaker.

Did they make it available somewhere or is this another sneak peak?

Hey !

-> go to the Kemper Rig Exchange
-> in the Filter Box enter "Dill "
-> then Un-check everything under the Filter Box -except- Author
-> then you will see the 3 x Peavey 6505 Thomas Dill Profiles all uploaded on 05 March 2026
-> D/L as you wish

Hope this helps

I'm waiting on the MBritt 2.0 Liquid Packs before turning on my boxed up Kemper Player as this sounds and tones are basically exactly what I prefer and exclusively used for a few years back when I ran the MK1 Kemper.

Given Orvillain said above they sound pretty good ... I take that as a potentially promising sign for 2.0 ... given these types of tones aren't ones I ever use or play with.

All the best !

Did they show it compared to the real amp? Would be beneficial to hear.
Sounds like a good enough capture/model. Flicked through and they were still too mid heavy for my taste, I cant tell if thats some inherant sound of the capture or just how the real amp was dialled in (again, the A/B would have helped).

Good point. A direct A/B would be good.

You'd think that for a product that claims to do what it does, that the official videos would basically always include some kind of a/b.

It's almost like Kemper want to have their cake and eat it - hey guys, it's a profiler, capture your amps, it is super accurate! But also it's a modeller, and you can craft a unique tone, and accuracy-schmackuracy.

Put two of the same tube amps next to each other and they don’t sound identical. Isn’t it more important to capture the nuances of what you like in a tube amp in the first place? For me is dose that. I would have tried to improve the interface but even that has its plus side. It’s incredibly easy to operate from the front panel. No more difficult than an amp and a few pedals.
I am pretty impressed with my old power rack v1 running 14 beta. As a simple all in one rig preferably with a guitar cab it’s a decent option especially considering how cheap it is compared with any half usable tube amp and a few pedals .
Then consider its weight and it’s a great practical practice and jam night rig.

I've done it many times. Most of the time - unless it is something very vintage and thus build quality and component choice is less consistent - you get a very similar and consistent tone.

I will say though, one time I had two Laney VH100R's next to each other. One had EL34's and one had 6L6's. They sounded like completely different amps. The 6L6 was way closer to a typical 5150 tone, whereas the EL34 sounded like a smoother Marshall. Both great tones.

Yeah I see your point, and that's fine. But why bother with capture tech in the first place? Loads of companies got us all covered.

Now with the AM4, I genuinely think most people should be going Fractal if their focus is real amp behaviour and nuance. If not Fractal, Quad Cortex. If not Quad Cortex, Stadium. IMHO, ymmy, m2p, etc etc.

I bet they sound closer to each other than the kemper does though.
Depends how you do it. Set the amp up in the studio and profile it then fine tune it through the same cab without moving it. You can get very close. Some amp types work better than others but it’s mostly good.

This one is quite interesting ... pity he didn't have a MK2 V2 Kemper ... interestingly, you can really "see" the classic MK1 Kemper mid-range bump we all "know and love" ;)

I've made several hundred captures of many amps, and wasted far too much time trying to close the gap between Kemper models and the real thing. Some amps definitely capture better than others, but there's always a ceiling to what you can do. The fine tuning with deeper parameters can be a double edged sword because you might improve certain aspects at the expense of others.

It's REALLY hard for me not to think it's a giant waste of time. V2 capturing seems better but still too far off being a worthwhile pursuit, as far as I can tell.

I totally get it . I think you just need to say “ do I like the results “ and if the answer is yes it has its place. I think the player experience is better on the kemper than most other platforms but I still play tubes 95% of the time.
