Kemper Profiler MK 2

I have a mk1 toaster from 12 years ago. It does not have the true impedance feature - that was introduced with Kemper stage. It’s a feature I always wanted to try.

I contacted support when Mk2 launched and asked them if true impedance was in the Mk2 toaster. Kemper support said it was not on Mk2 toaster or rack. It is on mk2 stage.

That's right. That's why I was replying to @Ed DeGenaro . He says his toaster has true impedance, but I don't understand how that could be.

Zero chance those views are real. Too bad they didn’t put the time and resources into improving the product vs paying for fake views.

You're probably right. I just find it a little odd that a company that can't figure out how to change the word "summer" on their web site is savvy enough to rig their youtube views, especially for a series of videos that have nothing to do with the Mk2 or the new profiling. What the heck would they gain by gaming youtube's algorithm for a video about using a KPA with a nylon string guitar, or a video about slap back echo?

Not on the mk2 toaster or rack? That is an utterly bizarre decision, to me.

I think many people are surprised to learn how minor the changes are on the Mk2. For example, the processor chip is unchanged. About the only component that was changed was the MCU.

As many people have pointed out, that makes it suspicious that the new profiling is only available on the Mk2 and not the Mk1.

Probably because instead of actually upgrading the hardware, it’s essentially a Mk1 with a new CPU and a facelift
MK2 is just the MK1 motherboard with an updated GUI card ( that slots into a RAM style DIMM slot on the motherboard).

That's it. They didn't change the motherboard on those products from MK1 at all. That's why they don't have true impedance OR integrated WiFi.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

That is the LEAST amount of effort they SHOULD have taken for an MK2.

Personally, I would have gone to the highest bin of the DSP chip that is code compatible and added more external RAM in addition to bringing all members of the family up to snuff.

I am sure they wanted to say that the newly released player was V2 compatible. Again, strategy errors everywhere IMO.

At least I am unlikely to be banned here for saying that 😄.

Not true, they also cut down on green paint and changed the angle of the face slightly. Let's not forget to give them credit for these huge innovations.
OMG! How could I have forgotten the paint and face angle!

Thanks for correcting my gross oversight 😁.

I do wonder WTF is going on at Kemper. Perhaps they lost all their original talent and engineering? Financial issues?

Regardless, the way they are handling their issues is stupid.

Hmmm ..... I cranked up the bit through my live rig when he played the Riff and cut from real to V2 ..... and .... well .... I could not tell any difference.

This is still early but very promising !

Maybe (?) this was well worth the wait (?)
Sounded pretty close - I do wonder how it'll fare with something like a gained-up Recto in Modern mode.

In 2013 when I purchased my MK1 rack, this was also the case for a host of on-line videos ;).

I think we need the real thing out so people can do head to head to head analysis with:

  1. Real Amp
  2. MK1 Profile (refined and tweaked)
  3. MK2 Profile (refined and tweaked)
  4. MK1 running MK2 Profile
So many reviewers do it wrong. While I find the process of profiling cumbersome and requiring too much work on the user, what is most important is the final result (at least to me since I don't make profiles).

I think it is good to do the 1 pass profile to show how accurate and fast the process is, but for the lions share of Kemper users, it is more important to judge the final output that is achievable.

I have stated many times that no amount of NULL testing or MK2 V2 profiling or release of new cool products like the Stadium can make my Morgan AC20 profile sound bad on my MK1.

Sounds a lot better from the limited testing and the cab resonance feature looks really good. It's a shame they didn't either release it on time or provide an actual update to customers as I already sold off my Kempers. And given how they treated customers and the view farming shenanigans, I no longer have any interest in their products.
