Kemper Profiler MK 2

Kemper is either botting their videos or someone is botting it for them. There's a bunch of reasons why it's obvious to me but the comment to view ratio is really the dead giveaway. If you think their views are organic, 100% not.

JNC if you're lurking I give you my blessing to make a video on this :rofl

There was some discussion about the number of Tones and Talks views about 20 pages back. There was a big jump around Guitar Summit, which I suppose might be plausible since people have been sharing their videos a lot more since then. Wouldn't people tend to comment less when watching it embedded? I'll agree the low number of views this week (currently at 21k) does seem fishy though.

Not sure who else would have the incentive to do it!

I could see a case where Kemper hired some PR firm who decided to "help" by coordinating this. I'm not sure Christoph would explicitly say "hey let's pump up YouTube video views by a 100x factor"...seems like it's well outside his wheel house.

Are you having a nice day, @volkan?

Most of the Tones and Talks videos were pulling 1-2k views max from what I recall. All of their recent videos are getting hundreds of thousands of views, but they only have 20k subscribers to the channel. Look at their older videos, a lot of those Tones and Talks were pulling right around 2k views unless it was something big (like 2.0 announcement).

For comparison, John Nathan Cordy has 164k subscribers and his videos seem to pull about 5k-20k views on average lately. So JNC has about 8 times as many subscribers but his videos are getting one tenth of the numbers of Kemper?

And even the first video of 2.0 at the trade show only has 65k views - this was very widely shared and discussed as it was the first look at anything 2.0 related. Now a recent video of acoustic guitar tones has nearly 300k views?

Yeah the whole thing doesn't add up, it looks extremely fishy.

I wish all of the true innovators in this space well: Fractal, Line6, and Kemper. That said, Kemper's current reputational damage is entirely self inflicted. They keep doubling down when they should be begging for forgiveness.

I'm probably skipping a few things, but there's been the gimped button affair (disabling hardware functionality that was there since the beginning of the product), the lock-in by suckage Kone, the tiered Player, the Mk2 launch, and now censorship-gate. Now, there's nothing in there that they didn't have the right to do as a business, but it forms a distinct pattern of 'screw the customer'. Eventually, people catch on.
Not sure what is going on over there. To your point, the Player with paid updates? Sure, I guess you can get some people that really wanted a more portable Kemper to shell out the money for it, but by and large, it doesn't do well against something like the Helix Stomp XL or Fractal AM4 in many use cases. MK2 just being a paint job and an upgrade application processor (to the same one being used in the Player) .... I mean, really? They didn't even bother adding in WiFi or variable impedance features that were in other products already because they didn't want to turn the main board. Cheap.

I get that they are betting the farm on V2 profiling and that they are hoping that it drives sales of MK2 (which is why they are SOOO adamant that the new profiles couldn't POSSIBLY run on MK1 hardware). Again, this isn't illegal, it's just ..... opportunistic money grabbing.

I just think it would have been much much better for Kemper to design a real Kemper 2 (not MK2) that brought the design up to the level (and maybe even above) of the competition.

It would definitely be in their best interest not to be so authoritarian in their forum approach. People who post on forums are usually your flag bearers. How stupid can you get?

At any rate, I do hope that V2 and MK2 do well. Good competition is good for all guitar players.
