Kemper Profiler MK 2

Despite all the other brands have make a huge step in the last few months, the only brands that let move all the knobs of an amp in a realistic way (dynamic profiles) are:
-kemper with liquid profiling
-dibiquadro (perfect recreation of each know but few amps)
-uad paradise (same as dibiquadro but not good in high gain)
-maybe helix stadium (in the videos it seem realistic but I don't know if it has really realistic knobs).

So for me Kemper is still the king just for the liquid profiling, I don't know why there people that doesn't seem it like something revolutionary.

I think most people who care about realistic behavior of the controls of the original amp use a modeler, not a profiler. There are many modelers that provide realistic controls.

But the sound of the modelers are digital, good but not enough. With profilers with dynamic profiles you have the best of both worlds and you can try better the behavior of the real amp for yourself.

From your earlier comment, it sounds like you don't have a lot of experience with modelers.

What modelers are you talking about, the individual ones from neural DSP for example?
They sounds good but not at the level of a profile.

Not to go down a rabbit hole but I guess my question for liquid profiles is this:

If the source profile the kemper creates is not very accurate, what does it matter if the EQ knobs react like the real amp if the source profile isn't accurate?

Liquid profile is not the perfect solution, but is a very good approach of the sound. I expect liquid profile 2.0 a better approach.

I don’t see how Kemper is doing us wrong by keeping the price the same and yet offering improvements.
I remember buying AxeFX Ultra and not feeling like I was betrayed, ripped off, etc

I don't think any Ultra owners felt betrayed. But if Fractal Audio had never come out with a successor to the Ultra, most people would view them today as an also-ran.

Uh, the sound of the Kemper is digital, too. And you’re “pasting” a tone stack over a static profile so it’s not going to be 1:1 for analog anyways. Use what you like, but don’t delude yourself into thinking you’re doing something you’re not.

Is liquid profiles 2.0 a thing or is it just wishful thinking on your end? Again, it doesn't matter how well a profile reacts to the BMT if the profile itself is not accurate....imo.

Just to clarify, accuracy and sounding good are two different ideas

The sound of the Kemper, Cortex, NAM, Tonex... is not digital. Have you tried a liquid profile? The result is not perfect but is amazing, the gain knob respond is ashtonising.

People from Kemper says that liquid profliling 2.0 is better, so we just have to wait for the mk2 update to prove it. And the profiles of Kemper 2.0 will be as good as the other brands v2, so liquid profiling 2.0 will be done over perfect profiles.

I guess I wasn't aware of liquid profiling 2.0! You are right that if profiling 2.0 is as accurate as say Tone X, NAM, and perhaps now QC 2.0, then yes, liquid profiling 2.0 could be interesting.

They have to get this update right with the competition putting out some good stuff

But, it is literally digital. I’ve tried Kemper multiple times since it came out and the only way I’d have considered one was if I had amps I absolutely need to capture, and at this point in time I wouldn’t even pick it for that. If I was doing my own capturing/profiling there are several options that are measurably more accurate to source. There is nothing wrong with how it sounds if you like it, but it IS a digital solution .

Helix stadium includes master power amp modelling. I think liquid profiling does not. And such modelling is also included in the new fractal AM4.

Additionally, Kemper has problems profiling multiple distorting stages often times (like preamp plus power amp distortion) in the first place.

Why do you think liquid profiling is "revolutionary"? It's for sure special when it comes to capturing devices specifically, but a revolution?

You also mention modelling devices/plugins that don't do capturing.

NAM was the best profiler, and now ToneX and Quad Cortex are at the same level with v2, so I believe that Kemper 2.0 profiles will be as good. I think that differences from now on on profilers will be in practical things as liquid profiling or the robot for making captures that people of quad cortex showed months ago (despite controls, pedals, UI...).

You are talking about Kemper 1.0, and yes profiles in Kemper 1.0 are worse that the other brands. We have to wait for Kemper 2.0.

Yes, it seems that Helix Stadium is something really powerfull, I´m waiting to see a comparison with other brands. Maybe is the new king.
