I think Tonex is great if you want pure amp/cab replacement but I'd guess your workflow wouldn't fit here as you'd need several other pedals and a switching system for effects. However Tonex could be awesome for in the box recording purposes.

This! Tonex to me is the perfect replacement for a 1-3 channel tube amp for portability, volume control, and headphone use. It is not something that will replace a pedalboard or a more full featured modeler anytime soon.

Its just as likely to drop tomorrow without any pre-announcement -or- the middle of December.

Its the Kemper [German] way and thats it :)

Though I think Kemper is perhaps a bit of a special case among the less "communicative" companies? An example: editor thread running for years and years, to the point where everyone's brains turned into absolute mush, pure existential crisis all over, with no response for most of the time other than "stick to the topic pls". It's sort of a specific style, which for me does have drawbacks.

But that approach has positives for me too. Some companies hype stuff endlessly. Kemper is more "bang, here's your dinner". I prefer that.

The Kemper Forum moderators are the ony MODS worse than TGP. You cannot say anything remotely critical, even if it is done in the polite, fact based manner.
Thin skinned is an understatement. I was banned for a week for asking for better transparency. They blow people instead of answering direct question, or give the vaguest of answers.
I personally like their products, and they have a good reputation for taking care of hardware issue with "service tickets". But they have an aire of arrogance when it comes to being questioned on releases, or performance decisions.

They have this bizarre preoccupation with keeping threads on topic and will ban people if a discussion starts branching into related tangents. It's as if they have no experience with how humans converse with each other.

The overall impression I get is that they find customers who post messages to the forum to be an annoyance, and when you post something you'll likely get a condescending response that makes it clear you've ruined their day by taking them away from an important task.
