Kemper Profiler MK 2

I agree with some of the sentiment that Kemper editor/librarian has advantages over other such apps, minus some issues like everything freezing when laptop goes to sleep/wakes up (well, don't know if this happens anymore, used to happen for some). Using tonex these days I miss the way the Kemper editor/librarian works.

Ok ... this is weird ... apparently the exact same profiles and same efx and same settings etc.... on MK1 and MK2 - the Gain profiles sound *totally* different ... the Clean profiles much more "identical"

This should not be the case as (a) they cant be MK2 profiles as that FW isn't out and (b) being [ MK1 ] Legacy Profiles, they should sound identical on each unit I would have thought (?)

To the best of my knowledge, C.K / Kemper have made zero claims about the MK2 playing back MK1 profiles "differently" or "better" (?)

Something very strange going on either with this video -or- the MK2 playing back MK1 Legacy Profiles really changes their sound (?)

He's messed something up there. The MKI sounds like 2 cabs being applied, whereas the MKII sounds normal.

His panning positions are different, particularly noticeable in the rhythm section. This can easily throw the ear off. The rhythm tones are not as distant as the first video, which to me implies that he did mess something up with that first one. I thought the same thing. There’s no way it’s an apples to apples comparison, it’s insanely muffled compared to the mk2 version and having a double IR /cab will do that kind of thing

They both sound like a hot bag of ass, which I know isn't representative of the Kemper in general. So, not a great test.

This is the same as all of the digital platforms. They all claim it’s a done deal until the next one comes out. It’s all bs and you should judge it on the product yourself.

My first two Kempers were both really buggy when connected to the computer, but the Player I recently picked up has been near flawless. If the Mk2 are anything like that improvement, they should be way better.

Tonex software may be the worst I've ever used.

Whoever shot those tests screwed something up. There shouldn't be a night and day difference when properly set up and volume matched.

Yeah, the video explains why. tl;dr he just couldn't get some amps to capture properly on the MKII Kemper.

This is nothing new for Kemper, there's just some tones it simply cannot do. It's why I always say about the tech just being redundant in 2025 when there are so many better ways to capture amps.

Pretty good demonstration of how the Kemper is in reality.

Remember this - whenever you buy a profile, you have no real idea of whether it is accurate or not. Could be the maker just churned out some shite and charged you 20 bux for it.

Making my own (approximately 200 of them) is what convinced me it isn't a good unit, and given I took about 4 days off the forum and the conversation continued along these "non-positive" lines, I don't feel out of place saying it.

Don't know if there's enough processing power for that, unless conversion to some lesser format.

COnversion of the NAM files has rendered very positive results actually, seems like its soundig even better in high gain models than the original NAM file.

Writing a high quality NAM conversion tool for old Kemper hardware isn’t a trivial task.
