No, it's not. With morphing, you can gradually change from status A to status B. Impossible with snapshots.
No idea about how things are in FAS land, but on the Helix, gradual morphing of parameters requires a shitton of assignments that you have to do over and over again.

Yes, if you want gradual morphing, the same thing can be done in FAS land, with even more flexibility, but I believe most people turn their morphing time in their Kemper rigs down all the way anyway. In fact it's a common complaint that it's turned up by default. In other words, most people use morphing as a pair of snapshots, just like you find in other modelers, except it's more limited on a Kemper.

I'm just saying I wouldn't go so far as to say morphing is unique to Kemper, but that's just my humble opinion.

Edit: Also, you're interested in gradual morphing, the control you have over the response curvature on the AxeFX is a big plus. It's hard to beat the AxeFX for this kind of thing.

I dunno, that’s just what I found from the official kemper channel when looking at morphing. There were others equally as bad

Yes, but that is hardly different than NAM. I don't see anyone bashing NAM for doing the same thing.

I don't keep up to date in the capture/profile world, isn't NAM the software that different companies have been putting in their products, or plan to? Now I'm confused....did they release a hardware unit?

There are 3rd party hardware devices like you mentioned but yeah no "official" NAM player. Idk if there ever will be? The creator seems content helping it reach other platforms vs creating their own hardware device.

No, Steve who owns the NAM code hasn't release a hardware unit himself, but he has provided the code that means others can.

eg. Dimehead NAM player, Darkglass Anagram... etc.

Also, further on from that - other companies like Hotone / Valeton / etc, have recently been converting NAM models to their own formats - which is sort of like ''supporting NAM'' but is really cloning a model to their own format.

No one has yet released a NAM hardware unit that trains a model in the hardware itself.

I think the point Mr EEEEEEEE is trying to make is that training for NAM is done via a computer, so why is everyone hating on Kemper for going that direction.

Every time I load this thread I read something remarkably fucking stupid about this "new" product.

Is there anything actually different about the physical units, aside from the new aluminum parts?

I see there's a few pages below this post, but from the spot I'm at right now this looks like, literally, a new $1500 Kemper skin that comes with a FW update.

The ARM cpu is new. That's why the Mk2 adds more USB channels. The DSP processor is the same as it ever was and forever will be on the Kemper. There was discussion a few pages back about whether this means the Mk1 is technically capable of running the new profiling. It might be. It's hard to say. But there's no way Kemper will permit it.

It would be cool, but if it was possible I imagine it would be much much slower that way (training on device), but I can imagine some clever ways could be implemented. Perhaps by way of wifi or whatever, and a connection to Tone3000 API

I'd hope this is a result of the former processor being discontinued, if not, I don't care how good the new profiling sounds, I've already heard Kempers sound great for years, this is the lamest new product in this gear space I've seen yet. But even then, I'm looking at my MKI AxeFX III and FM9 that are running the same FW as the MKII units and shakin' my head.

This is the most I've ever looked into Kemper functionality, I assumed I knew what morphing was, but again, thought there was going to be more to it due to the discussion around it. I've definitely been spoiled in Fractal land and assumed things like the modifier/controller options were fairly standard across all the brands. That's nuts.

Would be nice if morphing could handle binary effect on/off.

I'm OK with these morph's being a step function at any point in between. Sure, it's inconsistent with interpolation and it works in practice for many use cases that are outside the box.

Not all effects have a mix control ... and I dislike seeing that an effect is on in the UI that has been disabled by the mix.

You don't seem to get that morphing involves an expression pedal. It is not typically a timed ramp or an instantaneous switch.

Nobody knows. You'll have to wait until this summer when the firmware is ready before it will be possible to say.
