Kemper Profiler MK 2

I swear if they make a level 4...
To reach level 4 you need to pay up so the Kemper can clean harmful tones out of your body.

What do you expect from a company run by Christoph Kemper?
The moderators Burkard and G String are assholes. They always make any legitimate questioner feel like they're stupid. Rude, rude culture.
AND they're dead wrong about this. Their press release never clearly stated the compatibility question.
Older units will run new profiles at the original resolution.
I like the product and bought a player, maxed it out when I sold my toaster rig to a friend. I just bought so many profiles, in the past, that I knew I'd use it as a fly rig device. I still like my AXE3 MKI better overall, but that stays in my studio desk.

Can we join in?
Sure. Do you have either unit opened up and have images of the DSP chip, SRAM and CPU SOC board? While your at it the A/D and D/A chips with data sheets would be nice. Oh, and while your at it, can you see if there are actual silk screen versions on the non SOC boards so we can determine if the entire boards are the same with the exception of the SOC?

Thanks.
Not if you don't have the right profile, in which case you're relegated to sifting through free shit, or pulling out your wallet.
I have no problem paying for professionally created profiles. They are cheap (at least for me). There was a time when I would have been buying pedals and entire amps just to get a feel for these profiles. For less (way less than my HOKA's) than a pair of tennis shoes I can get someone's hard work using a host of microphones to capture rigs and setup great signal chains to go with them. I have no problem with this.
In other words, this just could be a money grab?
Sadly, it could be. I am still waiting to see how this sifts out.
All this aliasing, And here I thought all the time, my playing just sounded like a turkey fight because of me!
I'm going to start using this excuse as well!
For the low, low price of $199 (see the website for details. Non-transferable)!
Considering that the DSP chips and SRAM (the things responsible for the sound) are the same, I wonder if the MK2 upgrade will end up being a PAID upgrade to the MK1 users?

It seems like a crappy thing to do to your user base, but sitting here thinking about it, as unfair as it seems, I would likely shell out the $ for it if it actually resulted in noticeably better tone. I suspect lots of other MK1 users would too.

Considering the recent Player LEVEL model, I am even thinking that this may be completely likely, not just possible.

I do, and that's a fundamental difference between modelers and capture devices. I'd rather dial it myself. I also think people that buy patches for Helix and Fractal are suckers.
The catch is that a lot of us still buy IR's, but it's not really a necessity, especially now.

Can you imagine if Cliff made a massive big deal about a Axe IV, after years of waiting, and yeah it’s got some firmware improvements, but it’s basically the same box, same CPUs, different paint job?
To be fair to Kemper, I view this more as a FM9 turbo vs a whole new gen.

But yeah it's not super exciting
