Hi, I'm PorcinePicker, and I'm a toaster owner.

<insert muffled chorus of greetings>

I'm posting this here because I know that if I posted my question on the official KPA forum, I would be met with opprobrium and obfuscation...and not get an answer.

I've watched the last couple development years for the Kemper firmware in utter confusion. The last firmware that I understood to be pretty solid was the 8 series. The 10 series with Liquid Profiling seemed interesting. I intended to dip my toe in the Liquid water with 11.1.53, but I powered the unit off after installing it and that was that. I haven't burnt any toast since.

It appears that the 12 series was mostly bugfixes for the Player and the ongoing 13 series will prove to be the same for the Mk 2, which brings me to my question. There seems to be a constant stream of new bugs and bugfixes that have no positive benefit for tradtoaster users. Is there recommended KAOS version that provides the most stability for Liquid Profiles on the good ole toaster? ...or should I throw up my hands and go back to 8.7? :idk

Apart from bug fixes, I think the last kaos that gave actual benefit on the toaster was 12.x This added some new tremolo effects and I think they’re worth it. Of course, if you’re not a trem fan then you can go back further.

I can’t remember exactly which version I’m on but I haven’t had stability issues - it’s worked just fine but then it always has!

Used a Kemper for a lot of years on and off from FW 3 on up - never any sort of stability or crashing or anything - totally rock solid.

Backup your Rigs and Cab/IR's. Do a Full Hardware Factory reset. Load the latest FW - only a day or two old now - done !

Why would you go backwards in the firmware? The core sounds are going to be the same, just bug fixes and new functionality with expanded effects. Plus more stability with Rig Manager.

Okay, the consensus appears to be that the raft of bugs that Kemper users are trying to report and that the Kemper forum managers are constantly suppressing with the 'contact support' refrain are insignificant. That may actually be true, but their communication style creates much more FUD in a person like me than precise and direct acknowledgement of the bugs. I'll take the advice at face value and try the latest version. I can always downgrade later.

Thanks for the replies!

I was hoping this was a thread about integrating a Korg KAOS pad into your rig.

Their communication style can be a bit spiky! It’s the nature of the beast that you’ll see bug reports on the forum but that has to be taken in the context that there’s tons of people who upgrade without any issues. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve upgraded over the years - I’m obviously inviting problems saying this but here goes,,, personally, I can’t recall having any issues
