Insane pricing?

They get that price when they come up. I friend of mine ( collector) has three and I valued his collection for insurance. My process involves using achieved auction sales and sold prices not pre negotiation tickets.

It’s not like Eddie is going to be adding stripes and playing any more of these. It’s an extremely limited supply and there are collectors willing to pay. Clearly this is not meant for the average bedroom or bar gig guitarist.

They were between 7 -10k originally but they didn’t all sell so some went less than that. One of the very few limited editions to actually go up in value.

They are the vintage are rare market. People with money buying the things they couldn’t afford and lusted after as teenagers.
Of course... but it's funnier when you get arbitrarily specific. :D

The other half of my point (to the extent that I had one LOL): there's nothing about an $80K that makes it better suited to an touring professional than a bedroom/ bar gig player. If anything, the opposite.

The ones I have played ( about 10) were no better than and some worse the MIM stripes series EVH .
But they are all unique, taped by Ed and played live for one song and signed. You got a photo of Ed playing that guitar with each one.

They are not meant to be played, they are for someone with money who is/was a big EVH fan, not necessarily even a guitar player.

No. This is the part where they repeat your points but don't add jokes to their reply.
This post is almost as meta as an EVH fan buying a copy of an EVH guitar played by EVH and then signed by EVH, with a pile of certificates concerning EVH, in order to play EVH licks along with EVH records. In the spare bedroom at their law office.

Which is a real shame because these end up being showoff pieces in a display cabinet, vault or as an investment item sold between collectors hoping to get increased value out of it.

The only requirement to buy a guitar is to be able to afford it. But it's still always a shame when something ends up as decoration rather than played, no matter how badly.

The worst thing that can happen to a collectible guitar is it ends up at Hard Rock Cafe. I have had a few guitars in after they spent time with them . They were in terrible condition. I saw Gilmour’s black Strat when Charlie got it to revive. It was in a very sad state.

Jeff Becks guitars looked like they had been stored in the shed when they were auctioned.
This is his tele on the site;

Actually guitars like these are a sad sight when you get hold of them because the magic is completely gone. Often they aren’t even good examples of their type. Just the association with a famous player or iconic music.
