I'm not listening to music anymore (aka dopamine and distraction)

I do not like death metal vocals or screaming vocals or anything similar, yet my favorite band is Death and I love Sepultura in their thrash years. I just discovered Sylosis, and I love everything about the music, but the vocals are just absolutely awful to me. I have to do listen to all of the Queensyche catalog up until 1994 to combat it.

Conversely, I don't like a lot of singers in metal after a certain point. I cannot stand James LaBrie in the least, for instance. To me an ideal metal vocalist would be David Coverdale fronting a prog thrash band.

One example to me of great vocals in a very aggressive metal band is Forbidden's Twisted Into Form album. Russ Anderson is amazing.

Two cents.
