IK Multimedia TONEX

Yeah, v2 capture creation isn't available on it yet. They said it was in development, but there hasn't been a new release (outside of a hotfix or two) since. The NC dev team seems a lot more reliable though, so I bet it'll come soon-ish.
Yeah no V2 captures yet, and as far as I’ve understood V2 will require computer connection, which would be a bummer. To me, the NDSP V1’s are somewhere in the middle between Tonex V1 and V2, and much more useable than Tonex V1. But I also make high gain caps mostly and always the same amp…

I used the Nano to make some NAM captures recently and that worked well, so should work for Tonex also.

Did Tonex V2 captures work on the iPad app yet? I guess you need to publicly upload them though.

I'm having a hard time finding a capture I don't struggle playing at higher levels, that being through headphones, in ears or frfr cabs. Tried a bunch of the most known vendors and found very little I could use, the vast majority I pretty much need to put presence and depth to 0 to even be ok somewhat. Is that normal? With the UA pedal it's not my experience at all. I've obviously tried some captures of the UA pedals, and they work better as expected - but I want to understand what's happening. I've found some good clean/edge of break up that work, but adding any amount of gain just makes everything really spiky (?) sounding. Sure, I could EQ the heck of them and make them work, but seems weird that I need to do that from the get go. Would appreciate any sort of tip for dealing with this. Maybe direct me to a capture on tonenet

Yes, all controls at default is normal for any capture device, as that's the sound that was captured. The various EQ and gain options are there to to use if need be to change beyond what was captured.

Try using DI captures and your favorite IR's, as the weak point of many captures is the cab mic'ing and recording environment.
