Do you think they will announce the new tube based Helix incorporating Line6 HX50 at NAMM this year or the next?
like a spider valve/vetta thing? I think thats not the direction they want to go

Blug is good for a class d amp, man.
Nobody says it’s shite compared to other class d amps. It’s shite compared to non class d amps. Huge difference!!
I just can't agree with this. I've put my BluGuitar head to head against e.g the Bogner Goldfinger, at decibel meter matched loud volumes, through the same cab. I don't own the Bogner anymore.

I've also compared the Amp 1 vs Fryette Power Station 100 with an Axe-Fx 3 and they were not that different and that's because the Amp 1 is made to be more like a guitar poweramp. The Amp 1 was less noisy, fraction of the weight and you know, a 4 channel amp.

Thomas Blug said in one of his live streams that Class D poweramps can work poorly if they are not augmented with other stuff to make them behave more like tube amps. I don't know what his secret sauce is exactly, whether it's that subminiature tube or something else, but whatever it is it freakin' works.

So in my experience, well executed Class D works just great. Similarly I don't believe in "tube warmth" stuff that gets thrown around for tube preamp pedals etc. I'm just as happy using the BluGuitar as an amp as I've ever been with other Marshall style amps. The BluGuitar for sure has its own quirks and limitations like any amp, so I can totally understand it's not for everyone.

But we are well off topic here. Back to Helix amp please!

I like the amp1 concept alot as it reminds me of the old vox valve reactor system alot which sounded killer to my ears. I just would have liked to see more of a fm9/tmp /qc type layout and interface in the ampx for 2k.

Feature request to L6 for this amp: fake To0bz emanating LIGHT, and an adjustable heat generator; I remember feeling the satisfaction of "feeling" the tubes warmed up (via smell and feeling the top of the amp head) after belting out a few riffs, before going full throttle on tube-distorted riffage.

The sounds are there certainly. But I wouldn't buy a pedalboard amp from Boogie or brands I actually actively frequent let alone Blug, Blackstar, or whoever. Whether or not Class D can "do it" or whatever is besides my point in this sidetracked conversation.

For people who play not just with their ears (myself included), but sight, smell and touch.

Someone needs to make a "dust burning off hot vacuum tubes" scented candle.

Şi strigã: "Vetta, mi-ai stricat chiuveta!!"
But yes something like a Spider valve but more like the DT50 where the front panel looks like a normal amp and functions mostly like a normal (read tube) amp.
That's the direction they should go whether they know it or not :guiness

It sounds and feels great. I'd suggest trying things before dismissing them. I have my dislikes about the Amp1, but tone isn't one of them.
Don't know man. I loved the idea of having a super chonky portable amp so I bought not one but two quilters and they were not it. At all! Also my pragmatic brain tells me that you can't have 'em all. Portability, size, efficiency and sound at the same time otherwise tube amps would've disappeared a long time ago.

I got very curious about the AmpX though back in 2020 or so even. Until I found out that it'd be 2000+ euro and you have to buy "profiles"? WTF is that???
