I need an interface

Seriously; EVERY. SINGLE. INTERFACE. Has some GD downside. I am about to grab a Zoom digital multitrack unit and call it good  :rofl:cuss

Yup. I know a guy who recently did an entire album using a Zoom. That or something like the Tascam Model 12,
which allows you to use it as a standalone mixer/digital recorder, or as an interface/mixing station into a DAW
seems like a useful bit of kit. Nothing wrong with having something you can also haul around with a few mics
and turn into a decent mobile studio, too.

I'd check the Universal Audio solutions (Volt or Apollo), I'm an Apollo user myself. For a very cheap option in the US you can check the Sterling H224 of Guitar Center (I designed the mic/line and Hi-Z preamps of that one a few years ago :geek: ) This one is USB powered and the specs are quite decent for an interface without external power supply.
For quick and dirty tests I actually use a Zoom Q8 video recorder.

I'm not a pro, but I am loving my Universal Audio Volt.
The Volt 276 was on my radar as well its Very nice for sure and excellent quality but in the end it was out of my budget and i really did not need the compressor and vintage processing

If you aren't using a mic, you will never use the preamps?
Instead of using whatever modeler on hand at the time. I need something dedicated that won't get taken to band practice or gigs on a pedalboard every other week.

This is about as fun as shopping for that acronym we don't use around here  :bag
Only available used, and if I remember it's only bus powered, but this one was really good. Wish I hadn't sold it. Latency was super low on my Mac. Genuinely imperceptible to me.

There are some newer Zooms that look promising too! A little birdie is letting me give their Axe I/O a go :chef

I got my Axe I/O Tuesday evening! One thing I wanted y'all to know is that although SW says it comes with Amplitude 5 Max - once you register it you also get a ton of other apps including Tonex Max! :banana Makes the $300 for the Axe much easier to swallow, no?

So far I'm loving the Axe I/O. Had some "every 5 sec" pops but have seemingly resolved them. Also bought Neural's Granophyre plugin so I've got an unreal number of apps to learn but g'damn there's a ton of tonez to toy with now.

I'm used to playing with my Kemper and Kabinet, so I'm back to using my old AF M-Audio BX5a monitors with the new interface. Probably should consider some new monitors soon, no?! After navigating the mess of available interfaces what could be better than shoppin' for fuxorin' monitors, am I right?? :rollsafeMaybe the IK Multimedia ones are worth a shot, happy with that company so far?

Nice! My loaner should be here tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing if I can squeeze some time with it over the weekend \m/

You can also route outputs to your kabinet. Dunno how many outputs are on the axe but I use my main monitor outputs to monitors, but frequently run plugins to my life ne outs 3 and 4 which feed a power amp and cab.

I have some more cables enroute to try it through the kabinet.

I thought the pops were resolved but they started again. Neural was fine, switched to Tonex and the every 5 second pops are there. Only 20-25% cpu and 30-35% ram in use. Tried buffers up to 1024. Went back to Neural and it was doing it, too. Frustrating but I'll figure it out!

Idk why I didn't think to try with headphones but will tomorrow.
