I returned the Southland because they sent me the wrong one by mistake. I was about to just ask for a refund, but I decided to let them ship me the correct one.

I’m really glad I did. It came yesterday so I plugged it in. I guess a couple weeks away from it and a week without playing changed something because it sounds amazing to me now! I would swear this one sounds different than the other one. It’s more balanced and less pointy in the highs, and it seems a touch smoother.

Probably just my ears, or maybe it’s the tie dye!

With component tolerances it could sound a little different. Equally though you could just be in a different headspace.

So what are your lasting impressions of the Pedal Fury Haul of 2026 so far, Met?

That I need a bigger pedalboard! :rofl

The first 10 takeaways for me:
  1. I forgot I love fuzz, and it’s been fun to rediscover it
  2. Oil can delays are awesome
  3. Sometimes nostalgia is fun, but my gear needs today are different from when I was a teenager
  4. Sometimes it’s more fun to use less pedals on a smaller board
  5. I love having lots of options for overdrive
  6. Sometimes I like having lots of knobs and sliders to tweak, sometimes I prefer pedals with as few as possible that just do their thing
  7. Sometimes the older analog designs just melt together so easily in a way newer stuff doesn’t.
  8. I’m not a reverb guy. Other than spring where it’s called for, and occasionally a little plate or hall.
  9. My ears change over time and some things that used to sound good to me don’t anymore
  10. I need to stop pretending I like Klons
Two more:
  1. I need to keep parts of my board modular to swap stuff in/out - Stop thinking I’ll have a set-in-stone drive section on the board and choose the combos that work best for each gig.
  2. The Lightspeed still reigns supreme for me!

Oh, and one last thing: I love plugging preamp pedals into a power amp!

By the way @SillyOctpuss i tried to take a gut shot for you, but the board is flipped around and everything is board mounted, so I’d have to take the whole thing apart.

I was anxious to play but maybe I’ll do it another day
