HX Stomp appreciation

I'm currently using a Fractal VP4 in the loop of my amp, with analog pedals + HX One in front of the amp.

While I'm enjoying the VP4, part of me wants to return to my Stomp in that role, mainly because I love Transistor Tape so much and really miss it, along with Reverse Delay, and while the VP4 has lots of cool delays, obviously, I can't get it to replace those two. Also, while Fractal has simplified their interface with the VP4, I still find it quicker/easier to get what I want out of the Stomp.

Still got mine. I still think the sweet spot would be a full Helix DSP with full Helix screen/knobs in a box about the size of a QC (or slightly larger?).

Stomp is crazy versatile and packs a ton of power. The hard part for using all in one is lack of switching and lack of snapshots. Even the XL, if that had 6 instead of 4 snaps that would be a lot more powerful. But even for what it is, still has very few if any rivals.

I still like my HX Stomp a lot.

I’m one of those people who wait for stuff to trickle down into more affordable packages. The Stomp was still able to retain so much of the essence of the Helix functionality into its price point and compact size.

It’s got just enough knobs and switches for my minimal use case. I get lost with too many knobs.

I found its USB recording functionality very useful when I first got it. I thought it was very nifty to be able get both a dry DI and the effected signal out of its digital connection.

The Stomp is a killer USB interface for recording. The only reason i don't use it more often for that purpose is that, like its bigger HX brothers, latency over USB is just too high for live tracking.

Which is why my board next year will have one row of dirt and then an upper row of HX Stomp and VP4. I think the Stomp will do mono effects and then go full stereo with the VP4.

Today I spent an hour pissing around with a Yamaha FX500 playing the infamous Soft Focus patch. I've now got something I'm very happy with dialled into Native to be transformed to the Stomp. I love this little box.

I’ve been using the PodGo a lot more these days because it’s form factor is so much more conducive to playing live. However, I was reading about someone using the voice box effect with delays and reverbs to cop the Cloudburst sound. Within two minutes I was able to whip up a patch on the Stomp with the voice box and particle verb on a parallel path that was really inspiring. I’ve been able to squeeze a lot of crazy stuff out of that little box.

That sounds cool. Something to try this afternoon :)
