How do I make the direct to PA sound of a modeler not terrible?

If you're sensitive enough to cable capacitance that it's going to be the dealbreaker from one day to another; I'd go ahead and give up running direct altogether.
No it shouldn't be that much of a difference.
I don’t see how it could ever sound good, when using guitar pedals after the ToneX. Instrument level vs line level will cause issues.
Worked fine before for whatever reason.
That's just another DI, I don't think my LiveWire DI is going to be much worse.

Here's the board I used last night:

I had to bypass the ToneX because everyone in the room agreed it was terrible sounding.
The OP is little more than a troll. There is no single secret to making anything sound "not terrible," and it's never clear what is even meant when someone uses such a vague descriptor. Mark my words: a DI won't fix anything here.

It is a fact that, if a signal chain - could be a mic'ed amp, a loaded amp w/IR, or a modeler - can be made to sound "good" through studio monitors but then sounds "terrible" through some other speakers (PA), the difference is the speakers, not the processing.

If, OTOH, the mic'ed amp sounds good through the PA but the modeler does not, it behooves the disappointed user to learn to specify and quantify those differences in order to reduce or eliminate them. We have no idea what the OP considers "good" or "terrible," so any advice anyone offers here is nothing but blind speculation. Maybe some clips would help?
Seems to be you're the one trolling here, I'm trying to find out if I can make this stuff work for me. So far....nope. You know what shit tone sounds like and if you don't then we have nothing further to discuss here.

My suggestion: drop back 10 and punt. If you can't even manage to verbally articulate what you're going for and in what ways you're falling short, you need help that you're never going to get in an online forum. Just sayin'....

This thread needs clips.

This in fact would help a whole lot. So, @Count_Drugula, just record some bits of the very same setup you're planning to use and post them here.
Talking about sound is getting absurd in case you don't know what you're actually talking about.

Just a short note on DI boxes vs. no DI boxes: I hardly ever noticed any sound issues in itself (and yes, I A/B-ed kinda long cable runs around 10 meters with and without), but it's just a safe bet to have one because venues are different (so there might be ground/hum issues) and some consoles are more sensible than others, so I just have a DI box on all my setups since ages and call it a day. The option to easily just switch the ground lift certainly has helped often enough already to justify the expense (which isn't even a real expense).

JFC :roflI just asked if you used a DI, and you said:

I've said I've tried both and decided it didn't make a difference, so no, I'm not using one CURRENTLY but I have one.
Or share the capture so other people can check it out something.
That's a good suggestion, I'll try and load it to Tonenet. I'm also using several captures by others. Tim Pierce by Galtone studio is the one I've settled on as my main tone.
