I dare someone to call WC and offer 19k for one.
Then, if they bite, say nevermind, then someone else offer 18, etc. :rofl

But on a serious note, something tells me they won't budge.
Yet.

So it's a $9k upcharge for brazilian rosewood?

That's my take as well.

I am not quite sure who this is aimed at. Collectors? People who own some very pricy vintage guitar but want a top tier guitar for their weekend blues jam so they can leave their expensive vintage guitar home?

Yup, that's collectible. It's aimed at people who will buy it as an "investment", along with their silly $1000 pickups. Yup, not a joke. $1000. But you get a nice box to keep them in.

So if money isn't an issue, I see one of 2 types of buyers:

You only play LP's, you plan to gig it, and you want "the best LP I've ever played" (as quoted by an unknown person on the internet, for what that's worth), and you're fine with needing to spend (within the same line of guitars) twice the amount of money to go from 95% to 98%..., or,

You plan to hang it on a wall and admire it, and show it off to your friends. But you could do that with one that costs far less too. So do you also tell said friends how much it cost?

Either way count me in the SMH category. Cuz I jus don get it! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is precisely what I'm always asking myself.
I mean, if it was a true vintage guitar, owned by some greats or featuring some other interesting stories, I could possibly (not really, but still...) understand high prices. Also, you wouldn't have to tell people the price, simply because the previous owners and/or related stories would possibly give it away that it could be quite an exclusive, hence expensive item.
But 20k for a brand new guitar that is not made of pure gold /w diamond tone knobs?
I would expect my friends to stare at me in disbelief, hopefully checking whether I needed some serious mental treatment.

If you could comfortably drop 20K on a guitar "wall art," then you probably have friends with waterfalls in their foyers.

Yeah, likely.
And seriously, I'm pretty much aware of 20k being even less than peanuts for quite some people. It's possibly what 200 would be for me. Or maybe even 20.
