Now that I’m revisiting Helix Native after years of not touching it - EV Panama Red, gain on 3 with the Dhyana Drive to boost it is my favorite spot right now. Using dual cabs, the Mesa and Uber, and I’m playing with chorus to decide which one I like best.

How does your perhaps too distant memory compare it to QC amp models?

The amp itself seems to be on par or better than the QC 5153 offering which I also loved but I don’t have them side by side anymore. I did kind of think Gojira was a waste of money amp wise because the 5153 on the QC sounded basically the same to me. Most of my time has been spent tweaking the cab block to dial that in (I did like the cab blocks on the QC, and the last time I messed with Helix was before the cab update so I used to run IRs from an Ownhammer pack).

I think really the only amp I will miss is Nameless? But I can always clone that mf

I will say, the lack of DSP is disappointing when I set it to Helix Floor/Rack - I can turn that off and go to town with my Mac but with one drive, one amp (the admittedly new and heavy DSP EV red), dual cab block, chorus and then I start seeing greyed out intensive DSP reverb and delays. With the QC I had to kind of get stupid to hit the DSP limit - so I’m glad the Stadium is a more powerful unit.

Pretty weird that all of you seem to have certain responsible "guys" at music shops. That kinda thing simply doesn't exist over here.

If you’re trying to cram everything into one path then you’re limiting yourself to the equivalent of an hx stomp. When using both paths it’s powerful enough to cover everything I need for the most part. I’ll usually put the amp on the 1st path and the cab(s) on the 2nd path.

Good to know! I would set it up similar with the QC, post cab was on second path and amp and pre effects was 1st path.

Oh, it certainly gets quite some love over here every day. And I don't see this to change any day soon, because as much as the new Stadiums move my needle (and they very certainly do), unlike quite some others round these parts, I still can't justify spending that much money just for fun. So it might as well just take as long as for the first 2nd hand units showing up or so (which, especially in Germany, won't be very early).

Jokes aside, I hear you. It's been only a week (wtf??) since the keynote, and I've already went through

"Day one purchase!"

"Oh, no Stadium Native on release. I'll wait"

"Actually, I won't wait 1-2 years for Stadium Native to come out. F*** it. Day one purchase!"

"Hmmm, I might actually wait until people have tested it for months. It can't hurt to keep the money as la little bit"

"Wait, 3'5kg?? Day one purchase!"

And the rollercoaster will go on in the forthcoming months...

I already know I will be tempted. But I also know I won't do it. My gig arsenal is working very well these days, so my "professional needs" are covered for the time being. Yes, I defenitely consider going back to an all-in-one unit because at times it's a lot more comfortable for a whole number of reasons, it also seems as if the Stadiums are good to adress quite some (maybe even all) of the issues making me return to a hybrid setup, but it's quite a bit of money for me, so I needed to have a better justification than that. Or just have "money to spend for fun".
Defenitely not the end of the world. And in case these things deliver, the day will likely come.
