Helix Talk

Jeez, talk about setting everyone up for disappointment. The June 11th event is mainly to make up for the fact that we haven't thrown a Helix party at NAMM since before COVID, and the 10 Year Anniversary made sense.

Youtubers building hype for nothing is a bit risky, to say the least 😅

Reading that some people is driving to Line6 headquarters is indeed misleading. A party is a party, but there should be something big enough that makes one want to say "I was there" if you're driving there.

We're at an interesting point, I'd say:

- Kemper overhaul
- Darkglass Anagram
- Quilter Elevate
- L6 "special development presentation"

And all those things within a matter of weeks.

I fired up my Helix for the first time in a while. Initially, I couldn’t get the inputs to work. Neither the instrument input nor the returns on the back allowed me to get my guitar signal “on the grid.” A factory reset addressed the issue, but was obviously inconvenient.

When I started digging into old and new presets I felt a bit underwhelmed, surprisingly. High gain tones, specifically, felt off. It almost sounded/felt like the distortion existed apart from the core amp tone—like it was floating on top. I don’t really know how else to explain it. The tone wasn’t cohesive, and it didn’t feel great to play.

I was using the Revv Purple model which has historically been my fav on both HX and FAS platforms. I was using the same IR as I always do.

I’m not sure what gives, but maybe I need to check my settings after the factory refresh, though in unsure how/if that would help at all.
