I agree 100%! And I'd love more flexibility with my Helix amps, like the FAS idealized amp controls.
Anyway, luckily, here in Europe temptations wane quickly:
Fractal FM9 (Turbo): € 2355
Helix LT: € 1090 or Helix floor € 1555
(prices including sales tax)

Currently playing with the idea of going full Helix.

It feels a bit expensive, but I'm afraid if I get "only" the LT, I'll dream about 10 stomp mode and scribble strips every night.

Not going into detail about private circumstances (especially such sad ones) but I'm very probably going to inherit quite a bunch of them moneys during the next weeks/months.

Like a wise person once said: "If life gives you lemons, buy a Helix Floor." 🤔

Are you playing live a lot? Because if you were and owned a Floor, you'd be dreaming about the LT display mode at every gig where there's bright lights.

Well...
I don’t know about the whole “kerrang” thing, but I’ve been getting some decent lower gain tones from the Placater model with the C45 switched on.

It’s becoming one of my personal favorite models.

Personally, I've got exactly no horse in this race at all, just stumbled over that very thread.
Ok, in fact, the above isn't all that true, simply because I don't mind some great Marshall-alike tones, but as I hardly ever use my Stomp for ampsounds (with not much plans to change that any day soon), I'm getting these tones elsewhere.

Thanks, good points there!

Not gigging much at this point, it's really more about the scribble strips and having 10 stomp switches (and an expression pedal) available without adding any third party gadgets.

Well...

Responses are coming in hot.

That's my post. I just recently got an HX Stomp XL, so I wasn't aware that this was such a hot topic. Hopefully, Line 6 is listening.

I've personally had the best luck with the Placater Clean block, Bass and Treble in the 2 to 4 range, Presence I think around 8 or 9, and then balancing the Drive, Master, and Bright controls appropriately for the rest of the tone. I hadn't considered using it before, but I noticed the Helix Help site describes it as "plexi-like" and I saw the Bright option, so I gave it a try and ended up much closer to that particular sound than I was ever able to get with Placater Dirty. It has quite a bit of gain for this style of sound, and works great with a boost or TS style pedal into the front too. (ETA: I love Placater Dirty for everything else Marshall-esque though!)

Do you actually use a Floor on gigs?

I do, it’s my main live tool and has been for years through hundreds of gigs and I’ve never needed an LT display for anything….

What gigs have brightly lit stages anyway? Nearly every gig I do has pretty dim lighting throughout the venue to set a vibe. Outdoor gigs are usually at night. I think I’ve played one or two daylight outdoor gigs in years, those are the only bright conditions I’ve encountered and reading screens can be a bit challenging then on any device.
