Headrush Flex Prime

My understanding is that it is based on the Revalver technology which they bought from Peavey and that was absolutely terrible. Kemper completely shamed it last go. No mention of AI, which is literally everywhere else these days, makes me think it is likely just an evolution of that which is a subpar technology.
I think it has nothing to do with the original Revolver technology. But the first cloning feature of the Prime/Core (prior to this last update) was clearly inferior to the other ones in the market.

I don't think it's got much better, bit I'm curious.. They developed the SuperClone feature (I think improving static captures is the next step of capturing technology, and which Kemper started to evolve with the liquid profiling). It's the first time We see this in a floor unit. So, in a way, it's good to see Headrush trying to wake up. They better do.

Yeah, they call it Revalver, and they included old models when they launched the Prime/Core.

But the cloning had nothing to do with the original Revalver, AFAIK.

Direct quote from the Revalver 5.1 page that points to that link:
If you just want to demo ReValver and Revalver Amp Cloner demo, you still get ReValver free! Whether you are on PC or Mac, whether you want to use the ReValver stand-alone version or the VST/AAX/AU plugin in your favorite DAW, it'll cost you nothing. The ReValver demo ships with world-class guitar amp, stomp, effect, and proprietary ACT (Audio Cloning Technology)™ instrument models - maybe all you will ever need.
That reads to me that you will be able to sample some of the clones and or the cloner process itself via the free version in some limited capacity. This is directly pasted from the main page talking about all the new Headrushy ‘goodness’: https://revalver.headrushfx.com/

It also calls their technology ‘ACT Gen II’; ACT is the name of PVs terrible original tech.

I think I don't follow you.

Yeah, they bought Revalver, and all of that.

And they have developed that SuperClone thing, which is present in the plugin (I guess it's the excuse for selling the flexprime and allow users to capture amps).

What I'm saying is that I don't think their cloning and SuperClone features have anything to do with that ancient Revalver tech.

And for what I've seen, they sound totally different too.

I also think the cloning sounded worse than Cortex, Kemper, ToneX and whatnot. Don't know if 4.0 changed anything... Just saying I'm curious.

Again from their site own site:
ACT (AUDIO CLONING TECHNOLOGY)™ GEN II
Our proprietary ACT (Audio Cloning Technology)™ not only takes ReValver's cabinet modeling and EQ matching to the next level, but it also allows the user to mold and shape the sound of the guitar itself, cloning the sound and characteristics of other instruments, such as acoustics, folk instruments, and even other electric guitar and pickup combinations. ACT Gen II brings the power of amp clones and SuperClones to the ACT system.

ACT I is basically an EQ matching technology. We’ll see but that does not give one much hope. LOL.

I think the ”take a poo” at the brands is quite evenly pooed around here compared to other poo forums. Maybe fractal gets a better ass wiping treatment than other brands here. But there’s pooing on fractal to, impressively by fractal users around here that really likes Fractal. So while HR might get slightly more poo… I think we should be positive about the fair amount of evenly distributed poo on this forum.
And I like that we can poo on brands here yet have fun discussions about the poo. And poo with their reps to. The reps seem to take our pooing pretty well. If you poop in the wrong place on tgp… the forums members will jump over you. We don’t do that here I believe. We embrace each others poo. And we should. After all. Most of the discussions we have is actually poo compared to actuall guitar playing.

You all are poo!!!!

I am optimistic and will always keep an eye on the Headrush. Its clear that they are actively developing and marketing it. Interface looks great but they are light on encoders.

The Anderton's demo sounds pretty good and the interface looks great. The Core for $700 looks to be a nice feature set. Has a mic pre for singers, if it has a recording interface it could do alot of things for a person.

My impression of the tones is that there isn't a problem with the algorithms, but they sound like they are running at a lower sampling/bit rate, like many processors did ten years ago..., which can probably be fixed with a better processor in a future iteration? Or maybe with a software update that allows less blocks but better quality?

Its really not far off the mark and I'm sure I would enjoy it. I picked a Zoom G11 over a GT1000 and Helix so people may question my ears. Honestly they are all in the same ballpark.

This post isn't for the haters, I think we know you hate Headrush.

For the folks interested in the new stuff in the firmware this is a good video with some of the features. Little to no gaps for most switching. Still no clue on the latency.
