He takes a swing and he can’t hit!

Is that true for all art? Wouldn't you find it sort of strange in case someone collected Hitler's postcard drawings for their artistic value?
And no, this is not a trick question, because I absolutely find it to be a genuinely interesting thing to discuss about.

Absolutely not. Hitler is an extremely interesting study all around and I can absolutely see someone taking an interest in that. The amount of content I've digested related to Hitler alone is pretty deep. Much like Ted Kazcynski's manifesto is extremely compelling. One can take an interest in those things without condoning their actions in any way or form.

Farrell's wife wrote a post today about some specs behind this situation. Apparently, Perry has been upset that his vocals are getting drowned out by the other players on the stage, so he can not hear what he is singing. In addition to him having a bad week with his vocals (and who knows how much wine), things boiled over. At least, that is his wife's story! Personally, IDGAF, to me it is like watching a race and seeing a crash, extra drama, no extra charge ;~)) Sucks for the fans but then again, they did play 11 songs of their normal 14-16, so they did not miss much.
According to a report from a previous show, he was constantly swigging from a wine bottle and was incoherent when talking to the audience. Sadly, it sounds like there are bigger issues than “stage volume”.

Yes, certainly more than a "stage volume" issue, I was just noting his wife's view! And if stage volume is the issue, I tend to doubt that Navarro was the one to blame nor that it should be handled in concert via fistacuffs ;~))

I read somewhere that the sound guy is trying to protect him since he is often hammered and the vocals sound terrible. Makes sense. Bury him in the mix and let the crowd do a singalong. Apparently the band is still ripping.

I watched that clip last night. Pretty weird, like Farrell aggressively bumps into Dave Navarro, who immediately responds in a hostile way, then the music stopping and security taking Farrell off stage, :rofl like wtf.

I haven’t been following any of it so maybe there’s a backstory here I don’t know of recent things leading up to this.?
It’s interesting how I saw it completely different. Farrell bumps him and Dave puts his arm up to prevent someone from further getting in his face. I would’ve did the same thing Dave does. I don’t see that as hostile but more as defensive. Dave doesn’t escalate and walks away.

I just noticed something in that vid. When Dave puts his guitar down, he bends down and picks up Farrell's mic and says "I told you". You can hear it repeating and fading out. 0:30 mark

This^^^

When I saw them in Tampa, the band was tight as fuck, but Perry seemed wasted.

Yeah Perry’s always been kind of a weird ass dude. And just off the footage it ain’t a good look for him. Dave looked like a pro and level headed. As to the stage being too loud, etc. it’s very possible. I’m not downplaying Perry’s tinitus by any means either. I imagine that’s awful. Plus Dave likes his amps still. He’s been using the same 900s for years now. And I’m sure he plays them loud. Maybe some sort of on stage attenuation or in ears for Perry would help but at the same time if he’s showing up to the shows already in the bag that’s not gonna help either.

Btw, I’ve watched several seasons of Ink Master with Dave hosting/judging. Dude’s a good host. I may not agree with his judging takes but he’s good on a mic and handling a show. Plus it’s fun fake drama tv to watch. And I low key want one of his signature white PRS guitars. Even the SE would be cool.

His wife’s account may as well have said “I’m an enabler and Perry is the victim here. The monitor guy made it absolutely impossible for Perry to hear himself because everyone is too loud onstage. 40 years of playing shows doesn’t teach you these things, unfortunately. Then when he tried to calmly discuss it with Dave, who looked really cool, he was assaulted by the other band members”

Thinking about this he was probably saying it to Eric and Stephen and the rest of the crew, as well as everyone else who's been close to the behind the scenes.

Perry looked like he was having a bad acid trip meltdown. Was scary as shit just seeing his facial expressions in the video, I can't imagine what it was like standing only feet from the guy.

Back in their heyday something like that on stage would have been fine, probably punk rock cool. Even with drinking, drugs. But Perry is 65, at some point you'd hope to be just thankful to be there, drop the ego and handle things in a mature, professional way. Maybe it was too loud, maybe a lot of things -- but if he's drinking or on something else that does him and the people around him no good. Hopefully he can work it out.

I have a question about the mix. And I've heard this with other bands. Motley Crue comes to mind.

After Dave clearly turns his guitar volume down, you can still hear all this other, higher-pitched, "noise", if you will. At first I thought it was the crowd, but then you can hear that also get turned off. Was it coming from FOH?

Whatever it is, it's like extra sounds pumped in to make a band sound fuller...? And listen to all that delay on the vocal mike.

It's like some bands have all this extra stuff being blended into the soundstage, and to me it sounds like mud. Navarro too. He's always gone too heavy on the delays. IMO

Do FOH techs pipe in extra shit? Not talking about tracks (which is probably what it is in Motley Crue's case. Recent MC.)

There is a lot to be learned from history, particularly the people who did bad shit and the circumstances under which they were able to do so.

Book I read a long time ago, very interesting perspective...not often written about, nor contemplated.

Strictly educational content.

It’s even easier to understand why people felt the way they did in the 1930s and 40s if you are aware of what happened prior to that. The Treaty Of Versailles guaranteed that another war would happen.
