Yup. That is why I am prevaricating so intensely. :brick

Do I need another firebreather? No. Will I use it in a band? Probably not.

Would it be fun to look over my shoulder and glance at it several times per
day? Fuck yeah it would. :banana

I need to weigh the cost/benefit and decide how much I need those daily glances.

Part of how I justify having gear I know I won't gig with is that I do like just looking at it. I realized that I view it in the same way that some view paintings hanging on their walls but fine gear is significantly cheaper than fine art.

That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

That helps. Thanks. :beer

I don't gamble, spend $$ on other hobbies, or eat out much.

It's the one area where I do splurge. And the beauty is a smart purchase
will only increase in value, or at least allow you to get your $$$ back. :idk

Some folks are heavily into golf, or antique cars, or high-end watches, or foreign travel, etc.
All EXTREMELY expensive hobbies.

Spending a few grand on gear now and then as your major vice is nothing by comparison.

Plus, you never know when the hammer's gonna whack you on the head one final time.
You don't want to be thinking about the one that got away while you're on the road to St. Peter.

Yup. Totally. :beer

I spent the past couple of years watching my Stepfather
waste away and that point to live life while you can was
driven home every day.

The end comes fast and furious, and is here well before
we want it to be, or expect it to be.

You have played/owned the 20th Anny 101B and the Standard 101B??
I have played both and for me I lean towards the standard but both offer the Bogner Sound it really depends on what tone you go for
The 101b to me the blue channel is that 80s rock or chewy brown sound Bogner is known for it fun to play has almost a bounce on the pick attack and is looser and compressed but still super articulate
The red channel to me is killer for leads and is like Steve VAI passion and warfare , it a bit more sludgy on the rhythm
Alice in chains but still super articulate but I think if you want a more tight modern rock rhythm it’s benefits from a boost

If you are more into the tighter almost boosted XTC red the 20th does a better job of that
The clean on the 20th is also better IMO

The blue is a bit less gain more classic rock Marshall vs the more Hot rodded version I. The std 101b

So really it depends on what tones you are looking for
Clean and modern Hi gain rhythm the 20th

The Chewy hot rodded plexi and liquid lead tones a la VAI
I Would say 101b standard

What he ^^^^ said about the standard. (y)

This was my normal hang with my old 101B.

What year was yours ?
See that gets interesting to as there are different versions after 2004 the red channel got a mod that have it even more gain IMO a bit to much

The 95 -98 with Mercury Transformer were the best sounding as far as the red channel for me
