That happened to us too. I only found out when I collected my 6 year old from school and found out he'd made a shamrock shaped paddy's day card.

My manic daughter exploded into the house after school, wearing a paper leprechaun hat/beard mask she had made out of construction paper in her Kinder class

As I understand things, it used to be a religious holiday long ago and not an excuse for a knees-up until the celebrations and parades in the USA were seen in movies etc. to make it all shamrocks, leprechauns and guiness. Marches on St Patrick's Day were often part of The Troubles.

I made corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot just like i do every 3/17. My 2nd favorite meal. Thanksgiving is my favorite.
