Guitar Cabs And Speakers Are Important

So are other options. :idk

And let's be real here, people have mucked up "real" guitar amps into
"real" cabs using "real microphones," too. Nothing is foolproof or infallible.
But a lot of us don't want it.....and it is being fed to us from everywhere.

Most tried it.....and it just doesn't do it for them.
Not everyone wants a degree in applied sciences.....just to get high and jam.

Not knocking another....just finally done with the fight.

Barriers to creativity are just that.

🤷🏻‍♂️

It, to me....mind you, is like light bulbs.

Yes led is technically better, and the same....

But most prefer the light from an incandescent.

Like an incandescent just works.

To upgrade to led you need to take a bunch of original non issues into consideration.....this is just like the modeler/"FRFR"...and amp/cab .... again, to me.

This always feels like this to me. Simple analogy, possibly flawed...but again personal pov.

No, it doesn’t. Cabs sound great fairly quiet too
Sure, if you mic them.

Even though my amp goes down to a whisper, it's just not very inspiring to play through a real cab like that. Studio monitors on a desk can be about 10 dB less loud for a satisfying sound compared to a real cab blaring at my feet.

My experience is that you need about 90 dB @ 1m volumes from a real cab for it to sound great, and ideally I'd play at about 95 dB @ 1m. Louder than that is generally just louder, if the assumption is that you are using a modern amp instead of some "crank it for distortion" old school design.

Less volume than that, and it's increasing compromises where at some point the volume is low enough that you even lose any real difference between modeler vs pedals -> tube amp vs tube amp drive.

Depends on the amp and its volume sweep imo. A Mark V or a JVM or a 5153 sounds great in the room at low volumes

My Mark IV? not so much. But once I put my captor in between with the 20dB attenuation, I can get killer low volume sounds
