Fractal Talk

I don't think that's speculation at all at this point! If Cliff has already mentioned what is going to be included, I have to think they've started working on it....perhaps for years already!
Yeah, I'm no engineer, but it takes a long-ass time to bring something to market. I'd be surprised if they weren't already working on it.

Yeah not to be one of those "THE FM9/3 IS BEING FORGOTTEN"

But the update pace is significantly slower on them. I get the FM3 but even the delay in the FM9 is a bummer. I'm sure some of it has to do with pushing the limits of the III and trying to get that to work in the "lesser" units. The AM4 absolutely seems the route to go if you only need 4 blocks and limited capabilities.

At the end of the day though, these units get more updates than any other device.

I just assume with more products the engineering resources have to be spread thin. All updates will probably take longer in the future except the Axe III since Cliff does those himself.

Last FM9 firmware is two months old and there's been several Axe FXIII and AM4 updates, are the FMs being abandoned?

The FM9 and FM3 get 3-4 updates per year in recent years. They don't get the stream of consciousness updates from Cliff that the Axe-FX III gets.

These are the release dates for the FM9 and the FM3:

What this doesn't show, are the beta releases for the FM series. Often there are long public beta periods, with multiple intermediate Axe-Fx III releases being added.

IIRC, some >2 weeks ago Cliff mentioned the FM9 engineer was out sick.
I would suspect he was back a week ago, but maybe not. In any case, he has a ton of stuff to catch up with and possibly has to find some bugs (or errors of his own) that are hiding well...

1 week ago and it was the ICONS engineer.

Given the FM units are designed around performance, a consolidated update schedule makes a lot of sense.

Not that I'm up to date on my gigging unit 🤣

Fw11 on the fm9 still has a lot of challenges. Looking forward to them fixing things first before promoting the bleeding edge ax3 stuff. Random silences, footswitches not responding on first press, inconsistent spdif volumes.. fw10 still seems solid.
