Fractal Talk

Yeah, and at the other end of the spectrum are the people who want NAM and a touchscreen.

It escapes me why anyone would want NAM inside a Fractal product that's prized specifically for its not-NAM modelling, also when they can get a NAM thing each and every way they look.
People have been asking for combined capture/modeling tech for years.
It's the current feature set for the leading modeling platforms. QC, soon to be Stadium....not to forget all the cheaper entry models trying to wedge NAM related players onto the units.
whether people use it or not, it gives options.

It also takes up space for more important things.

It just occurred to me.... @SeeD keeps mentioning the AxeFX II. That was a long time ago. As the modeling became "moar realler" ;), fewer preset changes have been needed. The last time I remember having to tweak a preset because of a firmware update was when the JP IIC+ Green presets became ridiculously loud after a fix to the model. That was back in December....

....of 2023.

The volume pot taper changes might require more tweaking for people who set them in the sensitive ranges. The J taper pots move 3x a standard audio-taper pot in the first half of the range. If you run everything on 10 it won't make a difference, but if you had it set at 5 it sure will.

As for how component values could be off for so long, keep in mind a lot of amps were built that don't exactly match the schematic, and some things like pot taper are not going to be on the schematic most of the time.

There are easily just as many people who don’t care about NAM/captures/profiles whatsoever.

Because I may have amps I want to profile that are not modeled in the Axe-Fx and want to keep the same workflow and FXs? It's not that hard to imagine.

I think captures are a productivity side quest. In about the same way that if I am being honest with myself plopping a "new to me right now" amp model in the chain to "dial in some new sounds" is also a productivity suck sidequest. Anything to avoid writing music or having band practice :rofl

NAM "may" also help those where the FAS models don't completely reflect their current amp. If the capturing tech works well, you have a copy of your amp. I see no harm in having both technologies available. Whichever sounds best to you.
I am also happy with the AM4. My needs are pretty modest.
