I'm not near my Fractal gear. So, from memory:

The OUT blocks do not have an Input Select parameter. So, they receive both channels of incoming signal, regardless whether left and right are fully panned in the Cab block.

To keep left and right coming from the Cab block separated, split the signal from the Cab block, insert two parallel VOL blocks, use their Input Select parameters, and then route those to OUT1 and OUT2.

It seems like that would still mean both guitars would be going to both outputs. Since each guitar would still be coming out of both the L and R output of the Cab block

Okay, seriously, I'll bite - I want to take the train/bus/plane to the thing/can't park close to the thing/the thing is up three flights, and there's a cab at the thing. I have a guitar and an FM-3. I need to hang with a rock drummer. What can I put in a backpack with the FM3 to drive that cab that will do the job better than a powerstage? Because I'd buy it.

Give the BluGuitar Amp1 a go. It comes with a little carry bag, fits in a backpack, and it's a legit great amp in its own right. It's much smaller and lighter than the FM3.

I haven't tried the Iridium Edition with a modeler yet. The Mercury Edition is less neutral than my Fryette Power Station, but nothing you can't solve with modeler global EQ for example. The Amp1 onboard EQ does not work if you are using the fx return. Feelwise the Mercury is like a Marshall, the Iridium is closer to my Mesa Mark V 90 - punchier and tighter.

I measured the Mercury once against a 45W Bogner Goldfinger through an 8 ohm 1x12 Eminence Maverick (100 dB sensitivity). Cranked all the way on the OD channel, the Bogner put out 117 dB @ 1m, the Amp1 120 dB @ 1m. Haven't measured how loud they got when clean, but obviously less than that.

In any case, plenty of volume unless you play in a Motörhead tribute band.

Powerstage is of course a lot smaller.

If I understand the design correctly, that should not be the case, if (1) AMP is balanced left and CMP is balanced right, (2) Cab is set to stereo input, (3) two IRs are processing left and right individually / panned. I can't test that now alas.

I didn’t see balance controls in the amp or comp blocks

Some blocks seem to sum all output to both L and R even if they only receive input on one side

Note how it says almost every block has a Mix page. Maybe you can only access it in the editor on those blocks? I didn’t see it on either the amp or the comp blocks. I didn’t see it on the Drive block either when I realized that sending only R to the Drive block output both L and R out of the block

I'm sure the param is there and accessible on the device. For the AMP block I think it's at the bottom of the Advanced param., but as said, can't check it here.

If it has to fit in a backpack, and travel via public transport of any kind, that sort of thing can make a difference. If you want to slap it on a pedalboard, of course the size matters.

As the rock gods intended. Nice.

Synergy stuff is awesome and a lot of fun to use. Sounds great, but it’s YMMV depending on how you integrate it. The more you load shit down or digitize aspects of the chain (particularly earlier in the chain) it will increasingly start to become a wash, which is always the caveat with any hybrid setup.

It’s pretty easy to integrate with FAS devices and dip your toes in the water.

I mean; I get the whole public transpo thing. But the difference between the Duncan and a Blug is probably 2, 3 inches tops on length and width. As well as the Blug being an actual guitar amp vs. the Duncan being a generic amplifier you feed a preamp into. I just think those aren't the kinda hairs I want to be splitting. Think of the amp pic pic you shared the other day!

I can still understand it.

I've tried to figure out a few ways to put the Amp 1 on my pedalboard and it's never quite worked out with the board I have, and pedals I want on it. On a larger board no problem of course.

I do agree that it's no contest when you get a fullblown hybrid amp for a bit more size.

Are you still using the Nux board? Can't remember? I REALLLLLLLLLLLLY wish they made something one size up!

Newbie question, obviously, cause I'm pretty new with FAS.

I've got my Axe 3 and EVH 50W Stealth connected, and had made a preset for it.
Early on in the preset I assigned Control Switches 1, 2, and three to send MIDI messages to the amp for changing channels 1, 2, and 3 respectively. I used some kind of tutorial and don't remember how I did it.

I've since deleted those CS footswitches and am starting to use them for other duties. The only thing is, is those switches still change amp channels so now when I want to use CS3 for modifying Delay Feedback time, I also engage channel 3 on the amp.

I don't seem to see a menu for it anywhere, but is it possible to break the connection between CS and previous MIDI assignment?

I think you might have to reset the midi programming on the EVH itself?

Yeah some blocks are mono but usually you have a choice of L+R, L or R for those.

Amp block does have a balance control (at least on the Axe-Fx III) but looks like the compressor block doesn't (I've submitted a wishlist item for that: https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/compressor-block-pan-balance-control.215270/)
