Fractal Talk

This kind of panning has never worked on the FM3 for me. I am sure it was some deep setting I missed/got wrong but I gave up this type of activity on the FAS stuff a long time ago.

Bummer… something definitely seems broken here. But I dug through every deep menu I know of and I can’t find anything obvious.

The meters show it receiving stereo in and going stereo out, but when I’ve got two inputs going to the block both only hit Cab 1 and both go to both outputs

I guess like you said it might be some deep parameter or trick where something else has to be set a certain way for it to work

Hmm, that still didn’t do it.

I’ve got the Cab block set to Stereo, one cab panned hard left, the other hard right, but I’m still getting the output going to both. Is there something else I’m missing?

Try adding mixer blocks between amp and cab and cmp and cab and pan each one appropriately.

EDIT: And make sure that your inputs and output modes are stereo in the settings for in/out 1/2.
EDIT2: And make sure your out 1 and out 2 blocks have the appropriate pannings for the respective rows as well.

Go to each output block and also pan each row so that output 1 only gets left channel and output 2 the right channel of that row

No luck :(

Doing all the panning and setting levels in the output blocks to only that line I still get the output of the cab block going stereo to both outputs.

Mixer blocks before cab block makes it receive only R/L, but the cab block still outputs both inputs to both outputs. So if I only send R to the k put of the Cab block that signal comes out both L/R outputs.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to maintain stereo paths through the Cab block. I discovered the Drive block seems to be the same way. When you feed it a mono input it outputs stereo

Input mode is stereo on the cab block?

You've clearly never owned a Duncan PS. Those are turd buckets. But yeah, while I've not tried the Amp1 with a modeler, it was absolutely fantastic as a regular amp.
Come on, turd bucket is a little much. It's a set of engineering compromises where they leaned hard on the portability and power angle because "show up for the gig with axe and a backpack" is its best use case. It's the exact opposite of me using an old PA amp.

Vai has a signature Synergy module. There's endorsement money to consider.

Those things are like $400 and probably sell what, 20 units a year? I can’t imagine his cut of that $400 is anywhere near enough to move the needle for him. Especially when that dude can have an sig amp with any amp company on the planet that’s selling amps for $3500+

And he actually DOES talk about other gear being just as good, he’s quite transparent about what he uses in the studio and uses a bunch of different amps, in addition to the Synergy stuff.

I have the Synergy itch but I'm wondering how much of a difference I would see between an FM3 amp (power amp modeling off) into a tube power amp vs a synergy module into the same tube power amp. For those who have experience comparing the Fractal models to a tube pre-amp on a scale of 1 - Boonta, how much difference could I expect?

What’s going to be your playback method with this setup? (Cabs or monitors)
