Fractal Talk

Eh don't stress. Even if something happens (which would suck) you bought it new so you are covered for a year.

Back in the day my III used to max all the output lights and freeze up. Never figured out what did it but is stopped after awhile
I love my FM9 so much, I got the extended warranty. You can buy it for up to one year after purchase, which I did (along with Fractal Audio stickers, t-shirt, hats, and panties).

I just had a scare.

Turned my FM9 on and no sound and I was panicking, trying to figure out what was going on as it worked fine yesterday before shutting down for the evening and nothing changed etc.

So I turn the FM9 off and waited like 10 seconds and turned it back on and I now have sound... Weird, don't think I've had that happen before.
I have had that happen to mine a number of times, in addition to some times when it adds inter-modulation distortion (ghost tones), but a reboot fixes everything everytime no problem. OG FM3 here (my Axe2 never had the issues), and these two boot issues combined have happened maybe 15 times out of thousands of boots, so I haven't considered them a big problem, and won't until a reboot doesn't fix it.

OD2-1 takes the cake for me. That and the CCV 2B (or 2C, depending on my mood) are probably THE best mod’ed JCM800 tones I’ve ever played through.
oh I still love OD1 and OD2. , but the Spawns are great to , definitely have the Marshall mids , but are no where near as saturated as JVM a little stiffer much dryer , but super Dynamic and articulate

Direct recording, but I was trying to go for a amp in the room vibe with this one!

Outside of the music/tones you come up with, I'm always stoked to see how you approach playing in general and tackle licks essentially the complete opposite way most guitarists would, physically. Like the double stop/unison bend stuff. It's all quite badass, good sir!

That legato!

Settle down now, you all feeding my ego and giving me a big head! :P

Thanks :D lol

Man, I was approaching my band's scenes in such an amateur/surface level way and not taking advantage of the switching options at all. One of my biggest issues was switching from a rhythm preset to a lead, then going to a wah/whammy pedal where I'd have to go back to the rhythm scene at the end. Just a lot of movement and when your Rhythm footswitch is 2' away from the expression pedals, things get tricky.

The '2nd Press Prev Scene' function resolved a ton of excess movement and I'm using the Pitch Follower to turn on Pitch effects once I'm above E5. Once I incorporate the Graviton controllers into the mix I'll barely ever have to walk to the pedalboard at all. I plan on using that to change Scenes when the next part in the song requires me to use an expression pedal, so those 2' quick movements aren't a thing anymore. Ideally I can set one switch up to only switch between Rhythm/Lead regardless of what Scene I'm on. One side of the EC controller (2 knobs) will be tied to a Volume block in the effects loop and the other will probably be tied to Delay Input Gain knobs.

Edit- I would LOVE to be able to set the Pitch Follower to specific notes. I said above it's turning on Pitch effects past E5, but that's a rough estimate. I'd much prefer having the ability to program specific pitches it'll activate with, like if you only want it on E5's you just pick E5, but if you want it on everything from E5 and above you pick E5+, rather than a percentage number.

I need to check out the Setlist options in the FC's, but I had an idea at practice yesterday of how it'd be cool if you could tie all your Preset/Scene changes to a single external footswitch and you currate a list of which Scenes from which Presets you want it to scroll through incrementaly. Like each time you hit the switch it takes you to the next Scene in whatever Preset you've selected it from. I've never once looked at the Setlist functions, so this could be a possibility already.

I don’t do as much as I could to simplify live switching probably, but that second press to go back option is huge. You can do it for preset changes too. That’s on my list to look into soon because there are some things I want to do that are dsp intensive where I think that could be really useful.

I’m mainly interested in crazy ambient patches using plex delay. I can fit plex delay into normal patches for certain things, but there are some of its sounds that really need a dedicated preset. Setting up a switch that goes to that preset and then reverts back to the last preset allows me to do some cool stuff live without a lot of planning ahead or extra programming.

I just found myself moving my feet above the pedalboard too much and had to start practicing the switching, that's when I know I've gone too far. :rofl

I might add an external footswitch and figure out how to configure it so it only switches between my rhythm and lead scenes so I can put it right between the two expression pedals and shorten the distance my foot has to travel to reach them.
