Fractal Talk

Tell me about these. Are they comparable in character to the Ownhammer M25?
Always hard to tell…
the ownhammer are really great but the solodallas sounds more « alive » and got more depth to my ears. They feel better under the fingers.
They are also really easy to mix to get the tone you want.

I only play live (not a studio guy) and they sound so great through foh!

But it’s like guitars, amps or whatever gear, that’s up to your ears to decide.

The problem isn’t those guys, it’s you and your setup. You can’t possibly get helix native to do what a fuzz face does because you don’t have the input impedance of a fuzz face like you would if you were on the Helix floor or HX stomp. Helix native attempting to do a fuzz face I would expect to sound exactly as you describe. Helix floor on the other hand, does a good fuzz face that holds up against my analog units.

Helix and Fractal fuzz are very similar if you’re on the hardware for each that has variable input impedance. Helix had more model options for a very long time, recent fractal firmware closed that gap considerably. Fractal doesn’t have as many interesting models, but allows you to tweak them into interesting and wild variants. They’re both pretty killer in their own rights for fuzz.

D
Your explanation could have worked if you didn't put a wild assumption in there. Assuming that the reason why someone doesn't agree with you is that he did something wrong or is not educated enough, doesn't always work...
Did you take into consideration that I might have used my FM9 as an audio interface at the same impedance setting for both and also that I could have compensated for the different input level Helix Native expects? Cuz that's exactly what I did.

Bogner XTC 10b @MirrorProfiles quick question since you seem to have a lot of knowledge about the advanced parameters tweaks , I know the current XTC model in the Axe is a 20th anniversary, is there anything you can think of that would get that into the 101b ballpark or are they just too far apart ? things like changing bright caps , preamp freq etc etc

Who hear uses Cab-lab 4 ?
What’s your opinion on it?
I’m just spitballing the possibility of trying it but don’t want to fall down a rabbit hole of time wasted tinkering and not playing lol

Cheech be tweaking ??
Personally dont find the need for Cablab as I get what i need with Dynacabs, and the few Select IR's i have in my library
But if Cheech be tweaking and not finding what you need then maybe worth giving it a try

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No tweaking going on at the moment Mike.
I’m content but…
More is more 🙃

Ahh, well i find when im looking for something its usually cause I'm not quite happy with what i have

I use cablab4 to make mixes of irs as my fm3 is limited to 2 cabs.
I generally make 2 irs with 6 of them to have a real stereo take.
Generally 1 dynamic, 1 ribbon (same for each final ir) and blend a little left/right on each or accordingly.

Cablab4 is really great and free!!

Does anybody had problems with Fm3 fw10 beta virtual capo…
Controls are not the same and I had a gig last night and the wooble is kind of horrible.
Also a loss of gain that is really too much.

I bought the York Dyna-Cab pack and mixed some IRs, but the workflow of having to mix and then load the IRs made the whole thing kind of not very enjoyable imo......I'm just sticking with the on-board Dyna-Cabs and hoping the Axe IV brings the ability to load your purchased packs onto the hardware.

Absolutely no idea, have never played the real amp of either so don’t have much to go off. I’m sure schematics are available online and I’m pretty sure others would have gone through exactly what the differences are.

It’s got 3 channels and tons of switches so it’d take a bit of concentration to check all the differences (vs a one channel amp).

It’s great, for the exception that you can’t export WAV. Dealbreaker for me.

Cliff said "I've added a "Soft-Reset" function for the next firmware release."

"Gain, Tone controls, MV, Depth, Presence, Speaker params, etc., are left unchanged.

I'm sure some people will be upset with my choices of what to reset. The things that are reset are parameters that don't have a physical control on real amps."
