Fractal ICONS Plugin

It's not important for people who already own FAS devices.
Demoing to hear what it sounds like certainly isn’t important for people familiar with Fractal products, but I’m not going to just blindly assume that a company not primarily focussed on plugins is automatically going to release stable software on my particular rig. And when the asking price is £300 or so without a demo, then it’s quite a gamble.

Knowing that the software actually runs without issues is pretty important before I part with my cash.

Totally.

It has some issues overloading when swapping artist presets with an active track playing. I can say with relative confidence that is not my setup, because I can live audition presets with other sims on projects that have a ton of other active plugs running without issue.

I haven’t had any issues once I’ve landed on a preset or am actually preset building.

I’d imagine they’ll end up optimizing the plug over time.

I’m going to try to stress test it this evening on a couple existing projects with a bunch of sims and see how it holds up. I only got up to two active instances yesterday.

Probably not a product for me since I generally want to get away from being reliant on my PC, i.e. a hardware modeler is more for me.
That said, congrats to Fractal, this looks like a really cool release. Even more so, I really like the direction they're going. VP/AM4 was great and this takes the interface even further with the pseudo skeuomorphic design. Amazing. Makes me very optimistic about the next-gen hardware!

It's also interesting to know that the effects blocks (including reverb) don't encompass all of the algorithms that folks with the hardware are accustomed to.

“I currently own 3 FAS devices and have been using FAS for 15 years. Without a demo I’ll have no idea what it sounds like”
Just to echo what a couple of others said...

Its Fractal. I'd say the sound is the LAST thing anyone that wants to demo is concerned about. Anyway...

Mildly surprised meetings with iLok about demos didn't take place in advance, but hey-ho...

Here we go.
