Fractal Audio Systems AM4 - Amp Modeler

Ask @DrewJD82 - he should be an expert by now!

<ducks>

Such an expert that when I loaded up the Morningstar Editor last night and saw my whole library was completely fucking gone I added the whole thing back by memory. Sorry, I’m using hyperbole, it had VP1 Scene 1 still saved.

I must have re-loaded that page 50x before finally giving in that the cloud just lost my settings. Manual backups only from now on, definitely not trusting that shit again.

I might be missing the thrust of what you're getting at, but each section of a "thing" usually requires a different user presentation. For example.... an EQ graph, versus a distortion. You wouldn't want to control a distortion with a graph, and you wouldn't want to control an EQ with 16 knobs.

It really annoys me when I open up software - or hardware displays - and everything is treated exactly the same. It is a huge usability issue to pretend that just because under the hood all of your controls plumb into the same ValueTree system, that this means they're the same. They're simply not.

If you're arguing that a graphic equaliser should be knobs, because the rest of the UI is, and you've got the horn for consistency... then sir, I do declare you are a crack addict, and you've had one too many speedballs with Uma Thurman.
No I'm absolutely not arguing that a graphic EQ should look like knobs. But there is definitely an orientation period with every page change when you go from list - knobs - sliders - table - list etc.

There's just not much continuity between views. Sometimes for good reason, sometimes less so.

If you cannot quickly adapt to those things, never watch TV, nor read a newspaper, nor any kind celeb gossip column on the internet; although they're really damn fun. You're missing out.

My current Mini-Rig under my desk through my A2+ monitors. Really happy with it. The BE OD is a staple (not going anywhere) and the Tumnus is a keeper for the most part… but gets swapped out for a Valeton GP-5 when I want to play NAM captures.

This is for people who have a MIDI controller capable of sending MIDI Sysex, e.g Morningstar or Luminitefx.

These are the MIDI Sysex commands to set the AM4 to its different footswitch modes:

Code:
F0 00 01 74 15 12 48 4A F7 Presets

F0 00 01 74 15 12 58 5A F7 Amp mode

F0 00 01 74 15 12 49 4B F7 Scenes

F0 00 01 74 15 12 4A 48 F7 Effects
