Easiest to program?

AxeFx3 here and I’m generally 40:1 on playing vs tweaking time easily.

Granted, recent (and future) recording now has me searching for wider tonal palates to fill out the mix. But if an amp/cab doesn’t work, I move on pretty quickly.

Just not an issue for me, but like Drew I used 2 line 48 char led/lcd “editors” for a long time … page … turn … page … turn … page … twist … value … <reverse out>

I find the Axe3 pretty easy to use as just a hardware box tbh. I've not used the editor for over a month now. I wanted to force myself to be able to use it.

Your average input to output chain that most people would use can be built within 5-10minutes.

I've not yet bothered to work out how you can assign parameters to the global/preset controller views. But that right there is your ability to do quick edits on the fly. Just promote the most important controls to that, and you're good.

The fact that one can relatively easy edit a unit a small as the HX Stomp should not be taken for granted.

I would sort of agee with the Helix when it comes to onboard editing using sans-touchscreen units, but I beg to differ regarding the Stomp. IMO there's quite some things that could be massively improved.

Quad Cortex, easily. Best on unit editing of anything I have ever used. I do hope they do a computer editor at some point but it is not absolutely necessary because it is so easy to use.

If you are okay editing on a computer, then the Fractal editor comes into play. I‘d say that is the best computer editor of any modeler.

But on-unit? It is no contest.

I’m sure QC is, but I could never get past not being able to have proper local (hard drive) backups for presets/captures. Being tethered to the cloud is short sighted. I’d just go down the Helix or Fractal path until that gets sorted out. That’s me personally though.

With Fractal, I don’t find it particularly difficult to do most of what I need right on the device, with the exception of programming the foot controller. That’s a major pain in the butt. Complete opposite of the ease of programming that Helix has. But everything else is pretty decent once you know the unit for a few weeks.

I guess it depends on how much you want to tweak and build. If you’re creating new presets every week from scratch, it’s going to be a lot more tedious on the Fractal. If you’re more of a set it once and tweak as needed, then it’s fine.
