Those are BENNYs, not locals....

Not sure which fortune cookie you lifted that off but it’s absolutely possible to build biases into questions. This is why scientists spend so much time designing experiments.

I don’t need belief, I need data. There are about a dozen theories being floated, most of which are obvious misinformation targeting folks’ via their deeply held political views.

I’ve yet to see any video that was anomalous. I’m seeing lots of videos with FAA regulation navigation lights, planets, birds, etc.

If this is real and happening at the scale being suggested in some circles, then why don’t we have video evidence? Why can’t we prove it?
I hate political views interjected into just about everything, believe me.

Like suddenly how “it wasn’t a lab leak” for 4 f**king years from the world renowned EXPERT on public health who I believed and ran to get a shot turns into

“Oh yea. Look at that. It was a lab leak”.

They should string this guy up by his balls for this. Politics aside, of course.

Data is a wonderful thing to have. In absence of it, track record screams pretty loudly, too.

...proceeds to present as fact a highly politicized view of a totally unrelated topic that is currently only endorsed by one political party in America and widely disputed by the worldwide scientific community.

The best thing about conspiracy theory type thinking is you can just stick the goalpost in the ground wherever you like, and declare victory. If the evidence refutes your claim well, just move that goalpost to wherever you like and re-declare victory.

Compared to doing the hard, complex, thankless, and often controversial work of trying to uncover the truth, it's probably the laziest shit ever. I get it though. For a lot of people, uncertainty is uncomfortable. So they just invent certainty, and then they don't have to worry about it anymore.

Yeah, and then there's the segment of society who will label anything that seems outlandish as CT, when in fact, if you look at history, and the things the government HAS DONE, many things the less-informed will label as such, could very well be true. Especially when it seems like something no one could/would do.

Operation Northwoods anyone? How many people, if that had actually taken place, would have labelled someone a Conspiracy Theorist, if they shouted, "OUR OWN GOVERNMENT DID THIS!" ? Huh?

And I don't think this post is political, btw. It's just historical evidence meant to dissuade us from instantly jumping to "conspiracy theory" claims. Of any kind.

Makes me roll my eyes every time I hear those words. People are capable of so many things in the name of, "The end justifies the means."

There has certainly been no shortage of bad actors, and bad acting governments/entities/etc. throughout history, ours included, and they still exist today.

I am more referring to people who catch a whiff of a rumor, and plant their flag proudly on their conclusion, and never yield from ignoring the evidence. Instead, they shift their view away from the evidence.

Unfortunately what’s know as evidence can be manipulated to draw a conclusion that may not be accurate.

Sure, that's why I said it was hard.
It is! More so than ever, imo. Ever since 60 Minutes, when news became a form of entertainment, nothing is ever, "Just the facts ma'am."

I, for one, am so jaded in general. And I don't want to spend my time trying to dig all around to tease out the truth. Imho, every source of news slants their stories towards whichever way they lean. It's a shame in a large way, because one of the hallmarks of a healthy society is being informed.

There have been a few major events in the world in which I did do a ton of research on my own to find out what the real truth was, and even when I felt like I had a good grasp of it, I was still left wondering, "Why? What was the overall gain?" :idk
