But I'm also a regular handwasher throughout the day anyway.

I use coated strings too so they last months haha. Don't seem to get grime in the windings.

Because the windings of the coated strings already come grime-filled

One more barrier to playing the guitar, nope I just pick it up and play. Maybe my strings would last longer if I didn’t do that, but I don’t care that much.

I do the money sign rub of thumb and fingers, if it feels greasy I'll wash and dry thoroughly before playing. If they feel smooth and clean I don't bother. Also a good wipe down keeps the strings from that sticky feeling for longer.
