Dimehead NAM Player

Do we know what has been changed / improved in the newer units (?)

Is it internal hardware improvements ?

If not (?) can the original V1 units be upgraded via software/firmware ?
Yeah - so 2nd batch units onwards come with an fx loop feature, a higher headroom input (- 8dbu), maybe some slightly different component choices / etc (but mostly the same otherwise) and are available only on 2nd batch or newer units.

If you have a batch 1 unit you do still get any firmware updates (software based), but not those hardware updates.

I wish it had more effects. I'd like to use this as an all-in-one rig with just an expression pedal.
What effects are you missing?

As far as I'm aware, and I could be wrong, there's certainly room for some extra updates / options/ features in the future, but I don't think the NAM Player is aiming at being a massive flagship multi-fx modeller. Never say never though, I guess.

In other words - I'm sure you'll see a few extra nice things being added here and there, just not 150+ different options.

Some ambient reverbs would be useful. Like the Line 6 ParticleVerb and Kemper's Cirrus and Ionosphere.

I have Helix Native, but can't find Particleverb to find out how it sounds. Perhaps it's been relegated as a legacy effect.
Maybe it's possible to make an IR of your favourite reverb, then load it onto the pedal.
Or maybe describing the effect in more detail eg. 'a shimmer reverb', then the feature request can be better handled.

It might be just easier to use your favourite reverb though, as those algorithms sound quite specific and proprietary. =)

Dimehead are running an anniversary sale where you get 15% off.
Not sure the exact end date, but that's definitely the best sale price I've seen so far. =)

So that would be €425 + local tax + delivery.

Here in the UK, the checkout totals to €441.99 (so about £377) - including tax and delivery =)

Talking like my wallet lol
Stonks!
I decided instead of the lame gifs about wallets... it's an apt time for a classic:

Will the Dimehead NAM unit ever have effects like the Blackstar Anagram though?

Good question & difficult to predict really. The effects that it does have seem to cover the basics but yeah - the Anagram has some additional goodies (including a Pitch shift / Capo one that seemed to track pretty well from some vid samples).

Some of the current effects and features:
- chromatic tuner
- noise gate (works great)
- pre-eq
- 2x nam slots
- tremelo
- delay+mod+tap (with low delay time and modulation it's basically a chorus effect)
- amazing convolution reverb loader
- parametric EQ with additional Presets: Default (Plugin), classic british (Mshl), american style (Fndr)
- hp/lp etc

I'm sure I've missed other details, but for me, that's pretty useful already.

I don't know if you'll see Dimehead adopting a Mod Audio style 3rd party plugin eco-system.
...who knows what the future will bring.

Question: Utilizing the loop, is it possible to run two completely physically independent amp paths (wouldn't need anything else but the amps)?

I can't confirm as I've not tried it out. You could probably work something out, but personally I'd say it would make more sense to have 2 units instead if you want to do dual mono rigs. They've added a phase switch now for dual unit workflows for this very reason. =)

Nah, too big for my board. Too expensive, too.
