Dimehead NAM Player

Ellis would be great in Megadeth. Following Kiko is TOUGH. The replacement now seems like Chris Broderick II: Oh Look, Another Robot Boogaloo. I could be completely off base but it's not like there isn't a history there

Megadeth has always had the talent, but I don't really dig the vibe of Megadeth so I haven't really ever gone down the rabbit hole with any of it.
Maybe it's the fault of the press, maybe I just can't deal with the vocals. I dunno.

Kiko is awesome, Marty was too.
Others, I've not really paid much attention to... but they all can play really well.

Just checked and no one posted this, so I'll do the honours:

Basically, some real nice touches that improve workflow, operability etc, a bug fix, and if you are running two NAM Players (in stereo) you can now use the phase invert feature to make sure things sound right if any phasing issues occur.

#329 Thank you for your welcome and explain the joke! I have read the following messages and I didn't know anything about the "impostors". Good to know, but I'm not a fake member. I know about Amalgam because I had a ToneX and some of their captures. It's a shame that he doesn't follow his work with NAM. Another good options to know? Thank you!

Hi, sure you're not, it is fine and i can explain you:
  • I can buy any device on the market, open it and make a list of components. If it's aren't made in cheap china there are usually all labels on all components.
  • You can clone any hardware you want if you have time, resources and post-office x-ray machine to shot 6-layer PCB with
  • You can clone any software if it's based on well-known solutions like linux and made from opensource components.
I never had Dimehead solution in hands but it looks like smartly modded raspi4 solution. I applause them for their job!

What i'd like them do add:
  • specify DAC/ADC bit/kHz
  • specify THDs
  • specify in clear english that device load the NAM profiles as is and use them without modifications
  • specify in clear english that device load IR profiles upto 4096 samples at 48kHz and use them as it without downscaling samples and the only modification they do could be sample rate adjustement via soxr to match 48kHz if profile have on 44 or 96.

What i'd like them to remove:
I have a list of things i would like apple to specify, but i know they will not and im ok with that. I thing you have too much free time on your hands that could actually be used to create a competitive product that could rival the NAM Player, do you have those abilities?

And will they be putting all specs on their website, including what colour the PCB is?
....and I wonder how the customer service would be like.
Sheesh.

Customer: help, my pedal only has 2048 sized IRs.
Customer service: "Wife told me Lol"

People are different. There are nobrainers and these who think bit more ;)
I can give that task on outsource & finance so people can make it. In fact everyone can.

The main issue w/ nonane companies is:
  • support
  • re-sell value
  • EOL
Btw, Boss GT-1000 Core exists since 2020 and their IR profiles they offer from the app are 3354 samples per profile

Nam Player offer 2048 IR samples and it exists.. well lets count from 2024. Also guess you didn't read their Dimehead's TOS:
2.1. The display of products in the online shop is to be equated with an invitation to place an order and not a legally binding offer. Service descriptions included in catalogues or on the vendor’s websites are not to be equated with either a promise or a guarantee.

Compare w/ Rolland:
9.1. The product information contained on our website has been published in good faith and we will do our best to ensure that it is accurate. However, occasionally, it may be incorrect, incomplete or out of date due to human error or circumstances beyond our control. Where information is incorrect due to an error or circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right not to accept your order for the affected products, or if your order has already been accepted, not to supply the affected products to you. We will notify you if this is the case and will not charge you for the product.

Btw if you google for `Service descriptions included in catalogues or on the vendor’s websites are not to be equated with either a promise or a guarantee.` you could probably find where they copied their TOS haha.

Can somebody with a NAM player share some info on how this works in the new firmware? Does it use the "send / return" metadata in the new NAM trainer profiles?

  • Added a hint on the gain correction in the import dialog to use the suggested value for good levels.

Thanks!

Btw, just imagine how namplayer could be improved if it will be opensource & will have some ASM codeblocks? How it could be awesome if it will support external plugins. New groupd of people will buy this nerdy device and make their own plugins.

NDSP or Kemper are proprietary and you just do/share presets. But here you can create an entire community around your device and your future devices! Dimehead should thank community for questions & help and not to ban.

So you will continue to waste your time, energy and brains in here wining about a company that you could very well finance and make even better fixing all those issues you have with it.

Go ahead and make NAM even better!

Just imagine if every product out there could be open sourced? Very idealistic - and in keeping with the times. Every young person is an idealist today and thinks like this.

Do you realize some companies are trying to make some money selling a product? If you don't like it - move on. The market will decide if this is a good product or not.

What do you want to do with those extra samples anyway? Do you play guitar or is this just some project for you?

That's called an extended feedback and you guyz'n'girls are discussing . I can't finance them cause they are banned me :)
So yesterday i financed Boss for GT-1000 Core while there are no another good "nam player" solution on the market. Also how can i buy something when
"descriptions included in catalogues or on the vendor’s websites are not to be equated with either a promise or a guarantee" ? I buy a popcorn machine which suppose to produce 2kg and it deliver just 1.5 max :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Or.. GT-1000 have 32bit/96kHz DAC in specs on a "vendor's website" but in fact it's... 16bit/22kHz ?) Lol no, i can't imagine that.
Also you're asking me to pay these people - okay good start, but they must complete their homework before. No homework - no chocolate, for kids. No work - no money for adults.

Whats the definition of the product for you? For me:
  • before the sale
  • the item as is
  • after the sale
  • software/hardware accessories
  • extra services
  • EOL support
Lets imagine you're selling hardware & software like Dimehead folks. Your ideas will inspire other folks like Dimehead folks got an inspiration in someone else ideas. There are no 100500 ways to draw a cirle. There are no 100500 ways to play the music :)
People just change a bit at here and here and here and new device or song is here. You see literally the same solution/riff but different way.

Kemper ask money for upgrades. Sick! NSDP ask money for proprietary "nams" & IRs and use cloud for. Sick! But compared w/ this nam player their websites and manuals have much more detailed specs. I even don't speak about TOS.
