It‘s now been one year since my wife and I caught the plague. I recovered rather quickly and was able to work again after one week. Unfortunately, my wife has been chronically ill ever since, struggling with all kinds of persistent symptoms and nasty fatigue syndrome. She has been through a truly terrible medical odyssey and has had to drastically reduce her weekly working hours in order to remain able to work at all.
Thank you!My best wishes to her!
I do by now know several folks with at least some Long Covid symptoms, possibly the most irritating (or rather horrible) thing being that they vary so much and that there's no exact way to adress them, if at all. [...]
Mojo sent to the Mrs.Thank you!
The worst thing is that many (most) regular doctors simply have no idea about post Covid or even deny its existence. It was devastating to see my wife crying after many of her countless visits to different doctors because they either didn't believe her or simply had no idea how to help her. A few weeks ago, she finally had an appointment with a Europe-wide renowned specialist in Münster, for which she had to wait several months. There she was finally believed and the doctor prescribed her several off-label medications, which actually help her a little, but unfortunately also have their own side effects.
There was an article in Time magazine a couple of months ago about long COVID sufferers being referred to psych wards, because doctors were misdiagnosing symptoms as psychosomatic, and patients' frustration as hysteria. Terrible.Thank you!

Yep, happened to my wife, too. One doctor told her that it‘s just psychosomatic, another one thought she had a depressive episode, and the worst one yelled (!) at her and told her to pull herself together and do more sport (which is the worst advice ever for patients with chronic fatigue syndrome). There was an article in Time magazine a couple of months ago about long COVID sufferers being referred to psych wards, because doctors were misdiagnosing symptoms as psychosomatic, and patients' frustration as hysteria. Dismissed and Disbelieved, Some Long COVID Patients Are Pushed Into Psychiatric Wards
The chronic illnesses that make doctors doubt their patients often start after what “should” be a short-lived sickness—like COVID-19.time.com
