Reverb.com - Refund!

I bought a set of humbuckers off Reverb.com in early January. When I received the pickups I quickly realized that the description in the seller's listing did not accurately describe the pickups the seller sent me. I reached out to the seller asking for clarification and the seller was unresponsive. I also asked for a refund, which the seller denied. So I reached out to Reverb support. I explained how the pickups did not match the description. I had to write multiple email to Reverb support, and search the interwebs for photos to show how the description did not match what I was shipped. This morning, after about 4 weeks of emailing back and forth with Reverb, Reverb gave me a full refund in "Reverb bucks" credit on my Reverb account and let me keep the pickups.

It took a lot of effort to secure this outcome, but how can I not be happy with the solution? I would have preferred a refund to the card that I used to make the purchase, but these pickups are interesting, even if they are far removed from what I thought I was receiving. I don't have an immediate use for these pickups, but they are a custom wound set from David Allen and they appear to be in new condition. I'll find a home for them, likely in my Godin XTSA, which has "meh" factory Seymour Duncan HBs installed. But I consider this a win, and a great example that Reverb.com is committed to creating a safe market place. I am aware that some people have not had a great experience with Reverb.com, and this is not an attempt to obfuscate Reverbs other failures. I just wanted to share a positive experience . . .

Yeah, and I can charge extra for 'em by implying that they're REAL PAF replicas when they aren't. And then be a dick when the buyer wants simple clarification about the discrepancy between the listing details and what was sent in the mail. You know, real controversial stuff.

I'm glad that Reverb made good on their offer of "having our back." I'm a satisfied customer, no question.

Yeah, Reverb eventually did right with my refund issue, I just didn’t appreciate that they stayed in favor of the seller, without shipping confirmation, until I got pissed and wanted clarification on their policy. They probably have an auto-initiate sequence triggered when the bot detects more than one exclamation and/or question mark in a row. :rofl

I've been buying and selling online since the 90s. Back then eBay was the place. A very small percentage of deals I've been involved in turned out badly. The worst is when I bought an early 80s Ibanez 335 style guitar (I think that it was an AS-100). The guy noted that there was a blemish on the front, but that it had been well repaired. When I received the guitar there was a 2 inch spot behind the stop-tail that looked like it had been held in place to long using a polisher. The resulting blem, which was through the finish into layers of the plywood top, had been colored in using an off color felt tip marker, and then the seller had glommed on a mound of varathane. It was hideous. The seller initially refused to take back the guitar. I ended up getting a refund, but I had to pay shipping both ways. I still got back $600, even if I lost $100 (probably more) in shipping charges. I dodged a bullet on that one cause eBay was the wild, wild west.
