Boss DM101 incoming

Nice board! Is that a Carbon Copy bright up top? I was looking at that one as well.

I've been gigging the FM9/FR12 all this season and that won't change. I am digging the Multiwatt and board at home so this helps scratch that itch
m/

It’s the normal one, I want to get a bright to go with it. Or maybe a dm-something. I love the Carbon Copy, but I also love the Boss “flavor” of analog delay.

Yeah, I’ve still got the fm3 and gigging that. But it’s nice to have options and I love having the anti-FAS rig right now.

Nice to see that Tele still getting love! :love:love:love

I have a feeling your delay journey hasn’t ended yet. I can hear it in your comments, haha

I go back and forth on thinking about putting a single coil bucker in the tele when I am on a noisier amp but it is a LOVELY guitar either way \m/ I play bad nu metal/death metal riffs on it all the time :satan

You're probably not wrong on this journey :grin I do think the analog delay is suited for the beep boop vibes that I am too old to pull into my playing but the tones are so warm and rich that it's a breeze to throw them under my dollar general Devin Townsend riffs that go nowhere :satan

So did a small shootout with what I had on hand last night. Again.

DM vs. EQD Disaster Transport SR vs. the no name digital delay I have with about 300ms of delay on tap from what I can gather. Not extensive selection but still enough to do some comparing.

I thought the EQD was analog for no real reason but it's not. Analog signal path, digital effects. The guitar sound itself sounds sizzlier (which is good for me) with darker repeats. Bit more lively on top and removed from the delay, for lack of a better description? The 300ms rando delay is so quick that I'd probably just leave it on and forget it. Sound is good but an absolute forgetter of a pedal. Supposedly some guy who is a slide guitar guy designed and built it? Got it in a trade. I can't even remember the brand or model when I try to think about it :ROFLMAO:

The DM is a bit more goldilocks. Need the delay level juuuuuuuuuuust right to where it's not overpowering but it is THERE. The sounds I am using are GREAT and the functionality is great but still on the fence for the $ spent. I have no problem spending some $ but I do want it to check off the boxes as much as possible. I'm still trying to keep things analog. I have digital covered for DAYS.

We'll see.

I briefly had a EQD Disaster Transport SR and I was disappointed by it for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned.

There are much better delays out there IMO
Best part of the EQD is how the slightly sizzlier guitar sits on top of the delay. I do like that about it quite a bit. It's on loan for me so no $ invested in it.

Did some more "testing" this AM. I have a short delay and a longer delay dialed in on the DM. It sounds fantastic. I pulled it out of the mix and put the FM3 in it's place in the loop for delays/verbs and some modulations. The difference is non-existent as far as immediacy and variety of effects and associated tones. The quality is just as good to my ears but probably because I am a digital delay guy at heart.

I think I am rotating to my usual POV of analog up front, digital in the loop. I could go on a extravagant digital delay rabbit hole but the FM(s) are already here and sound glorious. I think I am just as well off putting the FM3 on the board with the analog drives and chorus and being good to go. Oh my god I have went full Gasp :rofl

I knew you weren’t an analog delay guy as soon as you said you didn’t like the Carbon Copy :grin
