BluGuitar Amp X

All this time spent on a product that has some of the fundamentals wrong to start with...
Thomas Blug certainly is one of the good guys, but this one was beyond his capacities. I said so long time ago already, hasn't gotten any better ever since.

By the way we have new products in development that I hope to be able to give more details about at Guitar Summit 2027 thanks for your time
Interested to see what these are.

They are probably doing a BluBox V2 because apparently the chips they were using have become hard to get or discontinued. While the BluBox was maybe even too simple, it was high quality with mostly very good IRs and very low latency. I'd love to see one with better 4x12 V30 IRs and maybe some low/high cut features instead of the "mic position" thing. Or do the mic position with actual IR interpolation.

A new Remote1 footswitch controller is supposedly also in the works, one that works for both Amp 1 and Amp X.

Thomas Blug showed off limited custom colors for the Amp 1 series at some point but nothing appeared for sale. The Amp 1 Mercury looked so good in a blueish green that I could see myself at least considering buying one. It sounds at least 5% better if it looks good, right?

Blug has also mentioned they might want to do a poweramp only unit, but that is likely to happen only after Amp X release. Makes sense for building stereo or wet/dry rigs around the Amp X. I plan to do this with Amp X + Amp 1, one for each of my BluGuitar 1x12 cabs.

PS. I think discussion would be better continued here: https://thegearforum.com/threads/bluguitar-amp-x.2883/ Or maybe this thread merged with that one so we don't have two separate threads.

Hard to balance the admiration for his passion (the world needs people like him), and how ugly that unit looks. Its a weird mix of looking like a physical version of Tonocracy and some kind of kids JCB toy that belongs in a sandpit.
I think it's the silver color. It reminds me of something like a Playstation 1.

BluGuitar showed a blue/green tinted version of the Amp 1 ME in one of their live streams that seems to have never been released, but that looked so much better.

Just give that color to the Amp X and it will look nicer.

That looks good , even if they made it in the iridium black that would be better than the silver IMO , the Iridum with the purple blue orange leds looks sharp

Its also a mix of random stuff bunched together, with a load of bland surfaces/textures and colours. Screams to me that its one person handling absolutely everything, when there should be other people on board doing what each of them do best. Wouldn't be surprised if Thomas is doing the website and handling all the emails as well.

The colour and metallic texture + lights make it a bit more interesting, but the black background with amp knobs on top screams "rushed plugin GUI". Its still miles better, maybe in part because its trying to do less.

I'm actually excited that the poweramp drive knob is not just an "amount of drive from the nanotube" type thing, but actually does some modeling behind the scenes.

The expression pedal, which I assume is using a Hall effect sensor, also looks pretty decent.
