Blackstar IDX floor modellers

Well, shit. I need another mfx like i need a baseball bat to the teeth... but i'm really digging how this thing works and sounds?

The smaller one is under $200 and does amp tones which have no business sounding that good for the price category.

Not that cheap in usa

One of the ads for the "three" version says it's a competitor to the Fender TMP ha ha ha
Yeah, it's not a competitor at all. Of course, with all the other new items on the market, if I were with Fender's team, I'd be nervous. Their used prices are dropping, their design is now looking bulky and not at all fresh, and the degree to which they're behind (small amp selection, no capture) is becoming more and more clearly evident.

Sorry for my ignorance... But is Blackstar modelling even at Zoom/Nux/Mooer/Valeton level?

Why would anyone spend the same money for this things instead of, say, a Zoom G6 or a Valeton GP 200?

Serious question.

To my ears, these boxes sound way better than the likes of Zoom and Valeton. Build quality is above most asian products in that price segment, which tend to use plastic enclosures.
Never tried any Blackstar, tbh. Some days ago I rescued my old Zoom G1XFour (not even the last gen Zoom algos) and played a little through a guitar cab. I had a very good time. It would absolutely do the trick live.

They're just kind own their own thing. Yes, they use some references to known amps, like their power tube types and the ISF control that sweeps between "U.S." and "British" tone stack setups. But if you want 10-20 classic amps, this isn't the device for you. If you want to be able to twist some knobs and hit a few switches to dial in a sound you like, one that might not closely match any amp in particular, it might work for you.

This exactly, it might work for anyone. But it's not going to scratch an itch for any particular amp. Has it's place for sure, and nice to see an alternative to hotub pedals in the price point.
