Beyerdynamic M160 and M201TG

Can't say about the M160 but the M201TG is the best dynamic mic I have for speech and general sound recording and my M88TG is also very nice for speech, they are more detailed and extended than the Shure SM series in both ends.
For electric guitar though, SM57 or E906 all the way, in my experience.

I want to have a M160 one day.

A 57 has a very focused sound much like the 201. I feel the 201 is a more premium mic. I get the sound I want off the speaker quicker and it seems somewhat more forgiving, albeit with a slightly softer/smoother transient. Both mics are a must have as far as dynamics go.

I should have a Royer 121 on Monday. Will be a good review.

You might try the M69 on electric, it sits kinda in between the M88 and the 201. It has more of a midrange bark.

I kinda missed the point when M160 were still reasonably affordable, their price has more or less doubled over the last few years in my neck of the woods.
Bummer.
