Best quality midi cable?

My guitar player was having issues with his footswitch and asked me to see if it had a loose connection inside.

Took it apart and it’s all good, but noted the midi cable it uses to connect to the amp doesn’t seat firmly in the pedal or the amp.

Pointed that out to him and he said it’s the third cable he’s had and all 3 did the same thing. He’s buying cheapo cables, so figured someone hear would have a rec for a better quality one that will sit in the port securely…

Is the MIDI DIN jack chassis or PCB mounted on the amp? PCB connections are sometimes recessed to the point where the cables don’t make a good connection.

It’s chassis mounted. The cable connector ends appear to be too small from what I can tell.

Thanks for the Amazon basics suggestion. Will try one of those.

Roland makes some really good MIDI cables. They're slightly more expensive but they last forever. I've been using the same one since the mid-90s.

For standard 5 Pin DIN plug I can recommend Cordial cables. In Europe available through Thomann, you can unscrew the plug and check the cables. Well built too!

Now I have the issue that my MIDI devices on my new pedalboard are using AUX 3.5mm plugs (Type A on all of them) instead of the big DIN plug. So I can (and have to) use classic audio cables to connect them. There are solid and very useful Rockboard cables that convert from DIN to Type A AUX, but there's no AUX to AUX cable I can find. Or at least none with 2 angled jacks and flat cable. All the ones made for plugging your headphones into your Laptop seem to be unreliable (thin) and most importantly don't sit flush on the jacks which allows for them to move around and potentially cause cable or jack to break.
Has anyone faced the same issue or found a cable that sits well? I might be okay with soldering it myself if someone can recommend a plug for that.
