FYI - iirc, fm9 has an additional, dedicated reverb chip

That is correct. Adding reverb with the FM9 has essentially no effect on the available CPU. I run all reverbs on ultra high quality because it has no impact on available CPU.

That’s the one thing the FM3 brings to the table that is hard to get away from, which is the compact form factor.

It's why I sold my OG FM9. I don't need no Hearse, and certainly no Limousine!

I can’t remember who I was having this discussion with, but I’ve never had a pedalboard smaller than the FM9, not since my 2nd or 3rd year playing guitar. Actually, I made that new board because even the FM9 + 2 expressions pedals requires a smaller board than my old amp/pedal rig!

It’s because I know the tones in those boxes are juicy AF, and I need that in my life, and FOMO.

It would soooooooo NOT be worth it in the end, with learning a new flow, especially with the HX GUI, and especially with my M.O. of, “finding THE amp I want to use, and just sticking there”, but, juicy AF tones and FOTU are pulling me in like a tractor beam.

I was going to put it on my FM9 board and I still might since I have to run my guitar cable to it anyway. The reason I put it in my III’s rack is so I didn’t have to run any audio cables to my pedalboard, just a single XLR cable. I have a momentary switch on the board just for that.
