Axe-FX (A Love Story?) Rd.1

Mine stays in front of the FM9.... (Wonder if we'll ever see feedback formally modeled by Fractal? I'd want it to always be available -- not a block per se, and not something I have to configure per preset.)
Personally, I think that this would be a terrible idea as you'd effectively be using up DSP all the time for an effect that may not actually be desirable in all situations - making it a block is the only way to go IMO.

And not the Pitch block cuz there’s only one of those!

Asking for a friend, how much of the DSP does the polyphonic pitch shifter take up, on say, an FM3?

Just tested it. On a preset I have up that was at about 67% utilization, when I add the pitch block it goes to 76%.

For this random patch I’m at 76% usage with the following blocks… Comp, Wah, Pitch, Drive, Amp, Cab, Chorus, Flange, Delay and Reverb.

Pretty impressive if you also consider each of those blocks can have 4 unique channels of that block type engaged via scenes. (IE 4 different amps, 4 different choruses etc) These presets can look deceptively simple, but with channels there can be a LOT going on under the hood.

The only thing that has really hammered my CPU is the PlexDelay, which is it’s own unique block, not the standard Delay block.

Yeah, the PlexDelay has 8 delay lines which is fairly CPU intensive (there is a dropdown to reduce this number). PlexDelay also has pitch effects and the diffusion effect which I also believe is CPU intensive. That's why some PlexDelay presets are heavier on the usage than others - not all presets have the diffusion on or they may have less delay lines.

It's worth watching @2112's video on the PlexDelay if you haven't already.

Didn’t get much playing in on it today, got caught up in a wiring, daw, IO, routing, DI, re-amp, Logic, monitoring hell. Broke down and read the manual on recording (which is well done btw) and am armed to get back after it and resume the marathon that is known as CAN YOU FINISH THE AMP LIST BEFORE DEATH.

I got ballsy and thought I’d do some headphone playing for a bit, and use only the unit controls. For the love of Christ I still haven’t figure out how to open the amp block to tweak the tone stack. Enter (the most logical button) goes into some shunt or movement mode. Nav arrows, page arrows, home. Nothing. How about Edit?! Takes you to amp selection screen, not the tone stack. But I just want to increase the treble!

Not hating, I did learn a couple things like zooming out on a layout. (Unfortunately I couldn’t zoom back in. lol) I figured out engaging a bypassed block in a preset. Let’s go!

But this thing is unintended awesome sometimes. I played the Wrecker preset (because it was mapped to one of the foot switches already and didn’t require me to press any more buttons hahahaha) and that thing is really nice.

Part of me wants to read the manual. Another part of me wants to see how long I can own this thing without being able to modify a block on-device. :ROFLMAO:

Use the d pad nav arrows to move over to the block you want then hit edit. Hit the page buttons to go through the different block specific parameters
